#74 Bulb Questions

I want to change the bulb in the ignition ring. I know I need size 74; will the wedge base flat tipped led from superbrightleds.com fit? Will it light the full ring, or should I stick with a regular #74 bulb?

Same questions for the gauge cluster bulbs as well.

Thanks,
Chris

buy it, try it, and report back. the wedge shaped bulbs from superbrightleds should work as long as its #74. make sure you let us know how it goes because i've been meaning to do this to my car too.

here's your answer. for the gauges, do the 194 bulb mod because that will spread more light. the #74 bulbs are puny. for the ignition ring, pull the existing bulb and put in an led. just stick it in and be CAREFUL not to let either of the two LED legs touch each other.

Those wedge led bulbs should work. I replaced mine with just a regular led with a resistor. During they day it is not that noticable but you can still see it lit if you cover it up a little (maybe because I used a white led and it's hard to see during the day). At night, it lights up the full ring. Although the bottom half of the ring lights up really good, the top half is still lit but not as bright.

When you open it up, you can see that the bulb is aimed at this clear piece that allows the light to reflect off of it and light up the ring. (you'll know how it works when you open it up and see for yourself).
