New- First Post-Getting read to purchase Maxima-few questions

Hi all. This is my first new thread post.---Yes I got to 15 -looks happy to me, so I guess technically it's not my first post.
Ok a few questions I have. I have done searches thru google, etc and seem to come up with more posts about "Is this peice interchangeable" than I could read in a month. I'm sure this has been posted, but it would have taken me hours to read thru the posts to find what was worthy of reading.
Anyway's I am in the market for a new car. -Sold my 99 Denali 3 days ago.
I am currently looking at either an 00 or 01 Maxima.

I would like to stay with 3.0 rather than 3.5 for many reasons. -Fuel, Pinging, access to used and discounted parts, etc.
I have done my research and noticed this car, as all cars do, has it's share of common problems. COP coils, MAF sensor's, and 02 sensors. They seem a bit more frequent on these than most cars, but don't mind "working out the kinks" to own what has been rated one...well bla bla, you own a Maxima you know.
So my main question is the 5th gen to 4th gen difference. I seen a few polls that people are wanting to trade down, others trade up.
So my questions are #ed and follows as
1. Are Auto trannys a common problem, if so what year?
2. I read somewhere the suspension had major problems in 00-01. Is this true? If so what is the common problems. Ball joints, control arms, shocks, etc?
3.You don't have to give a specific list of parts, but besides the engine what % of suspension/drivetrain/interior/parts are the same among g4 and g5 models?
4.For the g5 parts that are 2000-2001 specific is there much of an aftermarket production on these parts? I wouldn't think they would be mass produced in the aftermarket industry for a specific vehicle that was only made for 2 years????? I remember one time at the shop we replaced a half shaft for a maxima owner. 92 or 93- I think? The dealership wanted $600 for it. Got a reman for $100.--I hate dealerships.
5.What are the advantages of the g5 to the g4 and vise versa.
6. Is there anything else to look at?--I have seen the price difference on autotrader from anywhere from 13,990 (asking price of course) to $6200.00.
I was looking at calling this guy, what do you all think?

TSB for VB.. Stickys > you

Where? Never heard of it... Maybe struts, but not the other parts you mentioned.

Not as many as you would think. Many of the parts are interchangabl, but need some modification and are obviously not a direct replacement.. hmm

Aftermarket modification parts, or replacement parts? The former, not so much, the latter, tons.

Don't start this . There are a million different opinions from 2 million people.

Car history of course...

lol- Thanks for the advice. My worse concern was having to buy Nissan replacement parts. Seeing as how I can buy aftermarket, that puts my mind to ease.

Even Nissan parts are good. www.pinnaclenissan.com, courtesy parts

Ebay's a good place, thepartsbin, car-part.com ..

Don't worry about that aspect(part availability/replacement) .
