Stillen Lip: Gettin' Mine, Who Else?

Well, I've jumped through all the hoops with the insurance company after my car was hit (see This Thread), and I've found a body shop willing to work with me. Result: I'm doing some of my own repairs, and getting a Stillen-style lip paint-matched with the savings. It's an ABS plastic model so it should be very durable and easy to mount. I'll be mounting it myself; I'm just taking advantage of the body shop already paint matching my car with the insured repairs.

Here's where you come in: I can get FRONT OR REAR lip/skirt spoilers for $110 each on a special deal. Pickup is available about 1/2 hour east of Los Angeles (ideal), or shipping is about $40-$65 anywhere in the US. Both can be shipped together for about the same price if someone wants both. However, I believe I'll only be able to get a total of 5 lips at this price, and one of them is mine. Short story: The first four people to chime in here for either the front, rear, or both Stillen lip kits can have them at this price. I'm not the seller - I just organized the price. I don't think it's really a "group deal" because we don't need anyone else to buy at this price, it's just an offer. Also, I am still awaiting final confirmation from the vendor that they'll honor this price for the .org but I have had an initial "yes" today.

Cheers,
Doc

No, not painted - that'd be unbelievable and it'd be most likely your money was being stolen. The cheapest I have seen these on the market is about $230 w/free shipping, or $150 w/$70 shipping (all about $225, in other words). So, this is a very good deal.

The whole reason I'm getting the lip now is because the idjit that hit my car is paying for base fees to have the car painted (prep, hazmat disposal, paint matching, sand & clean). That means I can "piggyback" additional paintwork for much less than if I was doing it on its own, since she's paying for the basic setup (has to be done anyway for the damage to my bumper).

The best time to install a lip or any body kit for that matter is when you are already painting the rest of the vehicle, either in a collusion repair or getting new paint.

you can get the rear but the front lip will not fit because your bumper is different.

The thing is that they don't make the 02/02 lip in ABS. Thats why the lip is so cheap.

I haven't asked about anything other than the 00-01 lip. He'd probably go for it; let me ask. Once I have the final OK from the dealer and our list of buyers I'll post the store info.

Here's the lip he's selling:

Re/ ABS so cheap... the ABS lips aren't cheap, neh? Fiberglass is more prone to ripping, shredding, cracking and shattering, while the ABS is similar to what the factory bumber is made from. It is preferred because of its smoother forms (fiberglass ripples), flexibility to resist impact damage, and tendency to scrape rather than crack or shred. Are you thinking of something else, ChromeSE5?

I have the ABS lip. Its cheap money wise. That is what I was referring to. Also, the lip is very stiff and I have cracked mine on the outer corners where the lip and bumper meets at the fog lights. Don't get me wrong, I like the lip a lot, but it can crack.

Nice to hear from someone who has it installed. Did you install it yourself, or did you have it professionally done? Do you know of an installation guide online? How did it crack on you? Did you bottom out, hit something, or (worse) did it crack on its own or during installation? Twenty questions

I installed it myself. The fitment is really tight. I had to push down on the sides because they flared out too much if I didn't. I just used two screws on each side. Also, I cracked it because of carelessness. When I put the lip on, my car became an an inch and a half lower. If I go up my driveway at the wrong angle it cause my lip to push up against the bumper. Other than that, I have scraped it, went through debris, and even hit those parking bump stops and it hasn't cracked from that. Good luck with the lip. BTW, I had to dremel off a piece of plastic from the passanger side (I think) to make it fit properly. I think the main mold for the ABS has a fault in it. I'm not sure if it still does, but according to the guy I bought it from, he said that the other lips were made like that too. When you get your lip, you will see what I mean. Don't let it discourage you though, a dremel can fix it.

Great news! I got the "final approval" from the store owner today, and here's the deal:

Speed N' Stylez at www.speednstylez.com will offer the remaining lips to anyone from the .org who mentions my name (David Chong) in the checkout on the website. The price will be reduced to $110 for you with my name. Just say that you want the $110 pricing that David Chong arranged for the Stillen Lip. Remember, you can buy the front or rear lips at this price. Local pickup is available in Walnut, CA (LA area), or their shipping is very reasonable nationwide.

If you'd rather talk to someone in person, call them up at (909) 595-4798 and ask for James or Alvin and they can hook you up. They are also willing to offer preferred pricing on EVERYTHING right now - again, first mention my name and ask for the maxima.org pricing on whatever it is you are interested in. If enough people call and mention my name, I will have the opportunity to do this sort of preferred pricing deal with them in the future. I told them I could get the word out for their new store (opened in January) through the .org if they were willing to give us preferred pricing now and then.

Have at it!

I have looked around - the cheapest I found front lips were $225 shipped. That's the same number other .org members find, too; check out This Thread

The rear is a little cheaper, but $100 SHIPPED sounds too good to be true - got an actual link to one at that price? The lips I have seen on eBay are like $140 + $80 shipping, which makes the Speed N Stylez deal roughly half price. Plus for us SoCal folks, the pickup option eliminates shipping altogether. Anyway, something smells about a brand new lip shipped for $100.

yah i know and if i was ready to order one i would probably buy one from him im just warning some ppl that he has pretty ****ty feedback. basically 100 people out of 920 which is almost 11% of their customers were unhappy just in the last month. thats pretty bad

Not in my book it isn't! An honest seller has a rating in the 98%-99% area. His is well under that. There will always be malcontents or people looking for something for nothing, but they aren't enough to account for his low feedback rating.

Think of it this way: in the past month alone, he's had 100 unsatisfactory feedback (39 neutral and 61 negative). Do you want to risk being one of the 100 people he rips off next month? Yeesh. Just look at the comments on the negatives: "No product, no emails!" "Never recived... Tried to contact several times, never got reply!" "hello any there? numerous emails left about wrong part, no responce want refund!" "item not recived". He's obviously a scammer, and even if my transaction happened to be one of the ones that go well, that's not the kind of person I do business with. At some point I'll pay more to deal with a decent guy who stands behind his sales.

Ugh - this deal used to be clear, but the thread got a little hijacked to showcase a scammer on eBay offering a lip shipped for $125 or so. That eBay seller however has terrible feedback, showing he rips off about 100 people each month (see the specific feedback numbers earlier in this thread). I'd never recommend a dishonest seller to fellow org members, so I wish that guy was never mentioned. 99 SE-L, if you want to continue to represent for that scam artist, please find your own thread.

Soooo... the deal I've arranged is $110 for a front OR rear lip from Speed N Stylez at www.speednstylez.com. It can be picked up at this price in Walnut, CA. He'll also ship for cheap without adding heavy handling charges for .org members mentioning the deal. The price shipped is around $150-$170, which is maybe $60 off the best street prices overall for people across the country. For peeps in the LA area it's particularly good because you can pick it up, making $110 a hella good deal.

The instructions for getting this pricing are on the first page of this thread. You have to mention the "David Chong deal". You can also get .org preferred pricing on other items, including the matching side skirts, performance parts or whatever. Also, the more people that call/email/whatever with the name even if only to check pricing will show Speed N Stylez that we are a large potential market, which means they will offer us other deals in the future - so please give them a shout!

The Story: Basically they gave me this great price for pickup, which is less than half the shipped price I have seen from other stores. I immediately thought of my fellow .org members, and I told them I know of about 5 guys on the .org looking for lips right now and asked if he would honor that pricing for others. He said sure, have them mention the David Chong deal, and he'll see how many people respond. If we prove to be a big enough group by calling/emailing in with inquiries, he'll be interested in offering us deals in the future. The cool thing about this is he's willing to cut pricing direct, rather than having to do group deals, where we need a minimum number of sales. GD's through him would potentially be even cheaper, but we gotta show we are worth the discount.

Peace,
Doc

Have you read the whole thread? It's pretty clearly spelled out throughout the first page, and clarified on the second. I'm not trying to knock you - just attempting to cut down on reposting the same thing over and over.

The specific deal is for Stillen Classic style front lips and/or rear lips for 5th gens. The front lips fit 00-01, the rears fit all 5th gens. You can also get the side skirts cheap or any other parts Speed N Stylez carries for a limited time (don't know how long, maybe the next 1-4 weeks) if you call them and ask for the pricing using the reference I've given several times in this thread.

Good luck,
Doc
