Much props to Turbo95Max for working from 12 PM to 1:30 AM (with breaks and trips to the hardware store). We wanted to try these on my car for quite some time, but got discouraged when Hogan tried them without success (ABS light stayed on).

Yesterday, we decided to try for ourselves and see what the outcome is. With some modifications we got them to fit, but the real question was if the ABS light will come on. We started the car and the light came on (it came on while we were modifying some stuff), but after Turbo95Max took a drive around to break in the brakes, then light went away!!! Woohoo!!!!! I have ABS!!!!

So far the brakes feel very nice. We're going to re-bleed the brakes sometime this week to make the pedal feel more firm.

Pictures to come tonight... in 5th gen forum.

Upgrades:
91 300ZX TT 4 piston front calipers
Porterfield R4S brake pads all around
Powerslot rotors
Goodridge stainless steel brake lines
Resurfaced rear rotors (Yes, they were warped)
Happy me

Kev,

The only way it will feel more firm is if you replace the master cylinder with one from a 300Z. Having more pistons is good, but also requires more fluid, pressure, BLAH BLAH BLAH, to get the same feel as you had stock. Other than doing that, you'll probably always be disappointed from a pedal travel standpoint....

I think it's still a worthwhile upgrade, regardless of pedal travel...

Hey, now you can stop quick and let me catchup during races!

The brakes still feel kind of gooshy (most likely some air left inside), so hopefully driving around will make some of the air bubbles move upwards.

Admitting defeat now, Mr. Evil Moderdator?

Kev,

Search is so overrated:

http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

Tony ("1MAX2NV") has contemplated the master cylinder upgrade for his 99, and Jeff92se comments on why it's necessary....

I still think you'll have that mushy feeling.....but definitely bleed them again to see if that helps.....

Hate to burst your bubble, but the world does not revolve around the 5th gen forum......

And there are never "defeats"....only "opportunities for improvement"....

Thanks for the tip Bill. We'll look into it and see what we come up with.

The Maxima world does revolve around the 5th gen forum. That's why you see stickies all over the place.
