I believe that green/white corrosion is normal. Just clean it with a wire brush & baking soda.

The recent weather has made this corrosion pretty common... ive been cleaning mine probably every other week and it comes right back, as well as in my mothers wrangler, brothers jetta and girlfriend's bimmer.

I had Bob Summerel Tire clean and treat mine. It's been clean ever since.

Corrosion is not normal. It will cause problems if it's not stopped.

Baking soda and water or try an acid wheel cleaner to remove and neutralize it so it stops happening. Put plenty of conductive grease on the battery terminals, that also stops the corrosion from happening.

I've never had a battery do that in any car I've ever owned.

The corrosion is sulphates (salts of sulphuric acid). It will eat away the battery pan and anything else around it. Use hot water and a bristle brush to remove it and then a solution of washing soda or baking soda to neutralise it.
To stop it forming, you can buy a preventative kit quite cheaply that has a couple of thick impregnated felt 'washers' that fit around the battery terminals. They work very well.

I used baking soda and grease and it worked pretty good so far but i will give the felt washers a shot.

Get some battery acid cleaner and detector, clean terminals then dry. After it is dry use NCP-2 Battery corrosion preventative, spray onto terminals. It will leave a red colored coating on terminal that will prevent this from coming back. Use towels for overspray and dropcloth, don't get on paint. Both at wallmart near batteries.

I have that stuff around my terminals, and it works good.

Ive never had corrosion since Ive owned my maxima. I just actually switched over to an Optima Red Top and didnt treat the terminals because I really dont get it on my maxima. On the other hand on my Nissan Pick up truck, the terminals get really bad every few weeks. They get Bright BLuee...Ill take care of it when the battery dies. Hopefully this winter.
