5th Gen Clutch Parts

Before I go to the dealers and order the 5th gen clutch, I want to know what I should get while my transmission is off. What other things should I change and what kind of transmission fluid should I use?

If the trannys off, check the engine and tranny mounts.

I'd change those to stiffer units.

Get a new throwout bearing, and you could check your rear main seal.

use Redline MT-90 manual transmission fluid. GL-4 ONLY.

yes, buy a rear main seal definitely. when i replaced my stock clutch to spec stage2, we checked the rear main seal and found no symptons of leak. after a couple of months, clutch started slipping and i thought it was the clutch, but it turned out there's engine oil between the friciton surfaces. and apparently, rear main seal leaked oil into the system. now i'm replacing it along with a spec stage 3 clutch.

anyways, just wanted to point that out. good luck.

you can get the 5th gen setup from DAVEB on the forum for 191 + ~10 shipping, send him a PM for details. you may want to consider that if your local dealer wants more then 200 for it.

PS 2nding as other have said might as well replace the rear main seal while you're at it

Went to local dealer and throw out bearing, clutch disk and pressure plate(5th gen setup) and all together it was around 250$ so I ended up ordering it from www.nissanparts.cc

I was just quoted over $600 for parts and installation of the 5th Gen clutch kit from my local nissan dealer. Is this correct? I thought I read that Nissan charged like $350 for this job.

Also, what other options do I have? I really want a 5th gen oem, but I can't afford to pay over $600 for it. Are OEM parts available only through Nissan Dealers? If I took it to a local autoshop, what kind of parts would they be using and how would it compare to the OEM parts?

I just ordered the 5th gen clutch kit and I am waiting for parts to arrive. Once they do, I will get them installed at a local mechanic and have the rear main seal changed while they're in there.
