V-AFC VIAS Engagement?

Sorry if this is a repost, I tried to find some information but nothing adequetly answered my question- can you use the V-AFC to trigger the VIAS on a 00VI? Also, please correct me if Im wrong but as I understand it the V-AFC is everything the S-AFCII is accept with the added VTec hi/low cam activation points for acceleration and deceleration?

there are some more differences then that but yes in short it can act as an rpm switch for the 00vi. I have that setup and it works great.

That's great to know. Maybe I'll wait and just ziptie the 00VI open for a while and then buy the V-AFC instead of the RPM switch. Thanks chimp~

I've got a few connections where I live, I'll see how cheap I can get one and then compare it to Ebay. If I can get them cheaper, I'll PM you Ceasar.

Don't know if was just me & my ghetto wiring skills but I could not get the VAFC to actuate my VIAS. I know the VAFC-II will work though.
I still need to mess around with it somemore when I get a warm place to work on it. I'm using a RPM switch now.
Just a heads up!

hmm, I hope the VAFC-II doesnt give me any problems because I just sold my SAFC and Summit RPM switch and got the VAFC-II...

Does the VAFC give you a output signal wire and have you tested it with amultimeter to see if its giving out any voltage when the switchover point is reached?

The VAFC II will be fine.
I've been through most troubleshooting issues with the 1st edition. Weird thing is I've got it set to power my RPM switch so I know it gives power at the "VTEC" engagement point.

So your using the vafcii to power the rpm switch or are you using it to directly engage the vias on the manifold? I don't know if Im readin this right.

I think the reason to your problem was your first grounding point for the VIAS (because you grounded it to the throttle body). I believe if you use the ground for you RPM switch for you VIAS the VAFC will activate it. I have the VAFC-II and it works. Oh and another note I saw your 14.45 (i believe) video on streetfire.net nice . We need to meet up again sometime because there are more maximas up here now. I'm actually about to do another VI swap up here like this weekend or next (it's a 96 SE 5sp).

You need to give me a call so I can come join the party. You wouldn't believe how much quicker my car is now that I don't have a sensor blocking an intake valve.

I'll give you a call and if you haven't already done the swap, I could give you my fourth gen lower. This way you can drill the holes in it before hand and just give my yours when swap it. (let me know)

I'm using the VAFC-I to power my RPM switch at set RPM, even though I have the RPM switch set higher. Cheese way to do it but anywho.
Shawn - I did try a new ground point at it still doesn't activate, I think that's why on the VAFC-II they have the low, med, high "VTEC" setting.
Also if you talk to anyone looking for a 14.4 sec Maxima I'm looking to sell mine $8500

Oh ok, I didn't know if you had tried that already. Whats your new car going to be when you sell your max.
