Please tell me my trans isnt f#cked up..

So my clutch started to slip pretty bad starting about one month ago. One week ago, the clutch pedal all of the sudden lost nearly all resistance and it became very hard to put the car into any gear, especially first.

Are these symptoms related? Do I just need a new clutch or is the tranny faulty as well?

Your clutch is shot and you might have a master/slave problem also.
You can't get into first anymore because your clutch isn't releasing because of a problem with the hydraulics. It might just need fluid or you have a leak.
The clutch is shot because it was slipping. Get everything fix, test the hydraulics system and you should be good to go.

What would you suggest about the master/slave issue?

I plan on bleeding the lines asap...but what if the lines are fine?

I ment it shouldn't have anything to to with you transmission just clutch related , HOWEVER, if you keep running it like thaty you will do more damage than already there to you gears and everything else whuicch will make it much more expensive than just replacing a clutch. Also its possible that its you pressure plate as well if you lost all resistance

P.S
I just put my clutch in for 350 just for and idea of how much it will coast
good luck

Check your lines and see if there is any leaks.

Start with a bleed, maybe adjust the grab point.

Go figure. I've got 182K km on my '97 and I just had a very similar problem while driving home last night. My clutch pedal was feeling lighter (lack of resistance) and I was finding it harder and harder to shift into any gear. I too thought it was a master and/or slave cylinder having problems. The car's with the mechanic now & I'll hear back later today on what the problem is.

This sort of thing happended to an old '87 Legend I used to own. The seals on the master & slave cylinders had deteriorated to the point they were leaking. This so sucks since I just had the car in to replace the alternator 1 week ago. It looks like my car will have a merrier Xmas than me.

Did you check your resevoir to see if it was low on fluid. If it was then that would be a good sign that you have a leak somewhere. Or atleast in need of more fluid.

Strangely, the resovoir is still at the Max level. I too thought the level might be a little lower if there was a leak. Maybe it's not a big leak??

EDIT: I just got a call from the mechanic. He confirmed it is a problem with the master cylinder plus a flex hose linking it to the slave cylinder. I figure I might was well replace the slave while I'm at it. It would totally suck (& be dangerous) if I'm on a work trip within busy traffic and NOT be able the shift gears.
