I just wanted to confirm that Valeo is the supplier to nissan for the 4th gen clutch, is this the same for the 5th gen also?

The clutch that the dealer put in my car has the name valeo stamped into it. From what I've been able to find out:

Valeo is a supplier to all major global automakers. To meet their demands, the Group develops, produces and sells its systems on all continents.

Its main OEM customers are:
Nissan is listed, along with toyota, honda, and many more.

I just want to confirm from someone that bought a clutch from nissan in a nissan box that noticed the word valeo stamped into it, I want an oem clutch and I have found slightly better prices on ones that come in a valeo box instead of a nissan box. Also, I think if this was confirmed by at least more than one person this post may be good reference for someone in the future.

I used a 5th gen clutch on mine, works better than the 4th gen clutch IMO. I didn't notice the valeo name on mine but whatever. The clutch has been awesome so far.

Oooops, I sorta should have done a little bit more searching, I just found two other people who mentioned in post's that there clutch said valeo on it, and actually one of them was you, you must have a bad memory just like me...

"I don't know... sounds like it could be. I am looking at the clutch disc right now and it says Nissan on it. It also says Valeo on it (not value)." 5-27-2005

Now I'm off to see if any of the sites selling valeo clutches offer different prices and part #'s between the 4th and 5th gen.

And where on earth did this whole "key value" thing come from? sounds to me like like somebody got confused somewhere, I did the same thing, I thought my pp said "Valco" at first, short for 'value company' lmfao. I'm about 99% sure now that valeo is the oem maker. Also, several of the website's that sell valeo clutches, list the part number of 06-044 for all 86-01 maxima's.

Oh I found some very interesting things during the course of my research.

So I started a new post in OT with links to valeo's website.

Yes I have bad memory and I admit that. Now for clutches, it's either Nissan or a good name-brand performance clutch. I'm not sure where the key value originated from. I guess they are for other people who just don't give a damn about quality.

well for me it's either a really good name-brand performance, which I can't afford, or a valeo in a ni$$an box, or any japanese, such as exedy/dakin or valeo. So, my next question for the clutch gods is:

Q: Are exedy and valeo the only two japanese clutch companies that might possibly make a replacement and/or 1-up clutch for our application??????

I dont know about "key value" but we put in the 5th gen clutch on my friends 96 and his old clutch was "LUK"... needless to say it was pretty sad looking. The diaphram spings on the cover were exremely small compared to the 5th gen valeo.

Both of those links are for the same 06-044 Exedy, ClutchCityOnline has it for $145, I'm still looking for a better price though and I appreciate your help, thanks.

That doesn't suprise me since Luk isn't actually made in Japan.

Stay very far away from Luk clutches and pressure plates.
Aamco uses that cheap chit.

Key value and Valeo are two different entities I do believe. Luk oe clutches are garbage, I don't have an experience with the upgraded clutches. My 5th g clutch kit had Valeo stamped on it.
