Silencing an Apexi W/S Exhaust?

Folks,

Has anyone tried using a silencer on an Apexi W/S exhaust? Or have you ever used a silencer period? I am trying to drown a "Drone" that occurs between 2K and 2.5K. Will this silencer work? Or does it just lower the overall sound coming out back, instead of the drone in the cabin? Thanx.

yes, it comes with a resonater and the muffler. The catback is not too loud, coming out the back, but trying to eliminate the drone you hear in the cabin. I know this isn't loud to some ears, but my 42-yr old ears, it's annoying with others in the car b/c it gets worse under load.

That silencer DOES work.... I have a cheap Apexi clone (and I CAN'T WAIT to replace the entire exhaust) which came with the removable silencer. I know exactly what sound you're talking about and the silencer makes a whole world of difference. Go for it.

Their claims of increasing mid-range torque are questionable though. I've never noticed a difference.

Is it adjustable? Or do you just screw it in and let it ride?

So it gets rid of the drone? That's good news.

It is NOT adjustable, you just insert it and it's secured with a small nut and bolt and that's it. It gets rid of the 99% of the drone.... at certain RPM ranges while under heavy acceleration you might catch a hint of it, but under normal everyday driving it's completely gone.

I would think such silencers should be standard equipment with aftermarket exhaust mods. I mean, virtually nobody likes the sound of the boomy drone after a few months.

Even good muscle car exhaust systems don't have don't sound as annoying.
