I Think My Engine Is Flooded

I've tried to start my car so many times I think I flooded the engine. The car cranks but won't start. What do I need to do to solve this problem?

Sounds like a CPS, starter or ground problem... Do you have a CEL? If so check codes.... My guess is 0407.. If not, find an extra car and take the starter out and to AutoZone to see if it's any good. In between all this check ground points.

i didnt think u could flood a EFI car....maybe i am wrong...listen to NmexMax...it sounds like ur starter doesnt have enough POWA to crank over our RACECAR like high compression motors

Yes, you can definitely flood an EFI car. Mine has done it twice randomly. All it took was removing the fuel pump fuse for a second, but still...completely random. Hasn't done it since for awhile either

Man, what a bunch of bad advice. How can it be the starter when he says it "cranks but doesn't start"? If it really was flooded (unlikely) it would clear itself in 15 mins or so. If it cranks and still doesn't start then you either don't have fuel or you don't have spark. First thing to do is spray a little ether in the intake and see if it fires (some use a as soaked rag which always seemed risky to me).

Don't be so sure...

My car was being and cranking, but not starting.

I thought it was the battery so I swapped them, and still, same behavior.

Ended up taking the starter out and to AutoZone, where they tested it, and it drug really bad.

Got a new starter under warranty, took it home, installed it, and it cranked and started as if it were brand new.

So I do not agree with you 100%, that it's not the starter, it could be a dying starter.

i dunno, but my car has had the same problem since it got cold. i dont know why but it will take 15 seconds of cranking the starter sometimes to start, and then if i dont hold the rpm up then the car dies five seconds later and i have to start all over again. i have a rear o2 sensor code, but i think my car is just retarded. it did come from texas-maybe thats why
