99 SE w/Side Airbags: light flashing
99 SE w/Side Airbags: light flashing
I'm restoring a 99 SE maxima with side airbags that had a front right hit. The car has been fixed and I've replaced, driver and passenger side airbags, front seatbelt assemblies; and air bag module under center console. NOW the airbag light blinks constantly in a steady on/off manner. Is there anything else that needs to be changed, may some impact sensors in front or does the light just need to be cleared?
I also have a 99 that experienced a front hit that caused the air bag module (I think the wiring harness) to be damaged in the drivers side airbag. The light was blinking on and off. You might need to get the codes for the warning light pulled (the dealer charged me $95 to do it) to see what it is caused from. When they pulled the codes from my car they said there was an open in the airbag assembly. I think if you get the code pulled then you can tell whether it's the sensor in the front, or if the light simply needs to be cleared. When they pulled my codes, they were able to tell me that the sensors in the front were fine, but the airbag had to be changed, so it might be worth doing. There is also a howto in the faqs on how to get the airbag light off so you might try that also.
