Reprogramming keyless remote

I am trying to reprogram a remote to my car and I am at the step of inserting the key in and out more than 6 times and the Hazards will flash. When I do that nothing happens the hazards will not flash. I dont know what could be the problem?

If one of your door sensors/hood sensor is not working you need to replace it.

Found that out the hard way myself.
Driver door switch didn't know when the door was open/closed so I couldn't reset the alarm fob.

Are you following this procedure? You didn't specify if you followed through

To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps.
1. Close all doors and lock all doors
2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds.
(The hazard warning lamp will then flash.)
Note:
Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time.
3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position
At this time, the new ID code is entered and original (previous) ID codes are erase.
4. Push any button on the new remote controller once. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash)
If there is only one remote controller skip step 5.
5. Additional ID code entry
Release the door lock, then lock again with door lock/unlock switch
(In power window main switch)
6. Remove key from ignition
7. Unlock driver side door, open driver side door and then close the door. (END)
Note:
-If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure on step 5 "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.
-Entry of maximum four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignore.

When I close the doors the dome light shuts off. The hood I am not sure about.

I cant get past step two the hazards will not come on.

Took me two times to get the hazards to blink. Timing is important. The key is completly removed everytime right?

When you close the car door does the dome light shut off right away or does it take a minute and then shut off.

Did you ever have a remote for the car? Not every Maxima came with that feature. If the car has the feature, you will have a control module in the trunk. It is on the passenger side, by the power antenna. You will have to remove the liner to see it.

So you know what you are looking for, click on the link below and scroll down to post # 50 and look at the photo. You don't need to play the video. The control module is just to the left of the video's start button.

If the control module module is not there, you can't program the remote without adding a few parts.

I had this issue. A fuse under the dash, I don't remember which, in the upper right corner was blown. The homelink garage door opener is on the same fuse. I was able to enter the programming mode for the keyless entry and for the homelink after replacing the fuse.

From what you can remember was the blown fuse under steering column or are you talking about the fuse panel?

Keep going once and see what happens. IIRC my parking lights didn't flash, but it programmed them fine. They flash when I hit the lock button, so I don't know whats going on in there??
