It's slightly different and looks slightly better (better meaning not ugly like the GXE seats).

5th gen SE cloth is really nice also. I wouldn't mind it at all.

Leather is nice to look at but in terms of user comfort I hate it. Besides being able to clean spills up easily, leather is such a hassle. Scolding hot in summers and freezing cold in winters. You stick to it in the summer and go numb on it in winters. To boot I slide around like crazy in leather seats, although I dont know how the maxima seats are designed. I would say black cloth is the way to go.

Different patterns on the SE/GXE fabric. The center portions are patterned in the SE (97-99 anyway) while the sides are one color and if I remember correctly the GXE fabric has a different pattern (sort of a squarish design?), and also over the entire seat. Best setup IMO is heated cloth SE seats like mine Awesome in the winter because they don't get cold like leather and both the bottom and backrest are heated to keep you comfy.

I think that's what I have in my SE. It still looks new after 11 years and IMO looks very good in a clean interior. I don't remember the difference between this and GXE cloth.
