Anyone on here use a roof rack on their 6th gen? I've been looking for one to use for skis and snowboards but I don't want to mess up my roof in the process. Any recommendations or advice from current roof rack owners as to brands and install issues I should keep in mind?

Yes I have a roof rack. I keep it on all year, for the bmx bikes and then in the winter for the snowboards.

I went with the Thule setup. It's pretty basic, it has rubber footings contoured the roof so it sits streamline. Once you have it for a bit, its only a 5 min on and off process.

With all the bells and whistles, it'll run around 500 bucks give or take. And I've had my car doing 120 with the bikes on it.

Make sure to get a faring for it, makes the rack look alot sleaker.

....watch out for those idots who rips them off of your car. It happened to few of my friends...

but then again, it happened in nyc. go figure

 

the way it attaches is through footings, like i mentioned that sit on the roof and then they have a hook that goes into the door frame (were the top of the door hits the frame of the car. the hook is a 90 bend peice, you'll see what i mean, but to keep it from metal(bracket) on metal (car frame) I put some rubber on the hook parts just for extra protection.

Oh ya, don't let anyone steel your rack, get the key locks, they are defintelty worth it.

 

I like your setup. I remember asking this question a long time ago. I'm actually interested in the racks that point out at an angle, those are kinda funky.
