Need help, Idler pully and belts replaced, Squeel and hissing sound now

The bearings on my idler pully were shot so I had my mechanic friend replace the idler pully and the two belts (accessory and PS).

Anyway at start up its been squeeling and when dirving and accelerating I hear a hissing sound.

I called my friend and he said he set the belt tensioner a little tight so the belt could strecth and this could be causeing the sounds and for me to drive it for a couple days and then bring it in if still making the noise. Does this sound plausible or am I getting the run around because he doesnt wanna do it right?

Check the tension after a couple of days. Than you want to tighten the tension nut a half a turn or so. This should get rid of the squeeling on car start up. Do you know what type of belts he put in. I.e Gator belts??

I'm not sure thebrand of belt used other than the fact they werent OEM, but I did recognize the Aftermarket label (It had the word car in it I believe, blue and a little red package).

So when I take it back to him for my Differential seal he can crank the pully and fix this up pretty easy?

I JUST got a ypipe and KNock sensor with a tune up done (newly bought Max) and I LOVE the sound but this hissing pisses me off and keeps me from really enjoying it because I keep thinking it sounds like the belt is rubbing and is gonna snap on me (I know this is outlandish, but this is the mind of a newb wanna-be mechanic)

There is a washer on the bolt that goes thru the tensioner. If he put that washer on backwards, it will rub the tensioner pulley and make a scraping/hissing noise. I found that out after replacing my alt.

Try what z32drifter said about the washer. Retension the belt and if it still pursists than I would go with a quality belt like OEM or Gatorback as I mentioned.
