Do Bose and non-Bose 4th gens use the same wiring harness?
Do Bose and non-Bose 4th gens use the same wiring harness?
I've got to replace my Bose HU in my 4th gen because it won't play CDs anymore (this is the second one in two weeks that this has happened to, wtf?). Anyways I've got my old aftermarket HU that I had in my other 96 max, but that maxima DIDN'T have Bose, but my new one does. Are the wiring harnesses the same (will the wiring harness I have for the old non-Bose car work in the Bose car?) or am I SOL and I have to get a new wiring harness. New wiring harness isn't a big deal but I'm going on a long road trip tomorrow and I'd like to have a working CD player, but it's cold and rainy out and I don't want to go ripping the car apart when it's 20 degrees out to find out that the wiring harnesses are different.
Harnesses are the same, but you have to find a way to provide the input to the bose amps. It will not work by simply plugging the harness in. You have to use either the high level outs from the aftermarket unit (the speaker wires) to give signal to the bose signal wires or you have to use the RCA outputs from the aftermarket head unit to give the signal by splicing Male RCA's into the signal wires on the stock harness.
