Everyone read above, I cannot wait i think I may have to get a job at Nissan so I can get me one of those bad boys.
I can't believe it 6-SPEED 260hp stock, and give me a Supercharger and say goodbye to everyone else on the road, and MAX that can easily run 300+ hp, not to mention Xenon HIDs WOW Nissan knows what is up on making a badazz sports sedan
DAMN!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait!!!!!

Supercharger? I think someone or someone's, I don't really remember, mentioned that if the new 3.5 Liter is just a bored out VQ, then you may have a problem supercharging it due the the engine wall thickness and the pressure going into there. Anyone want to elaborate on this? Will supercharging the new maxima be an option?

02' Max

I'll admit I was considering the Altima.

Just when you think the Max is getting outdone, Nissan comes back with this. The 02' Max will certainly be a car to dream about. I only hope that the new motor and 6 speed dont drive the price much higher than it already is... Demand will do that enough.

The Altima is going to scream as well. The lights are beautiful on the Altima, but now Nissan is putting them on the Max too. Clear rears on the 02' Max should really help the back end, kind of like the 97 enhancements helped 4th Generations. I do wonder just how much cheaper the Altima is. It's essentially a Maxima (1/2 bigger in almost all dimmensions), and the independent rear is something the Max has been missing for far too long. Well I'll just have to wait in line at the dealership to testdrive what I know will be the two best cars on the road next year.

Hmm, I'm thinking either Black on Black or White on Black. I wonder if the new white paint will be any better then Nissans current paint? I guess I will have to bring a pine needle with me to the dealership and see if I can scratch the car with it

I will probably get a 2002 but I have not made up my mind 100% yet. I still may get a brand new 2001 max at a bargain price, hmm? I'm confused as always.

i want a 02 Max -sliver with black interior. Some Nice after market 18s , droped and a nice body kit.
BUT here is what I am thinking , since the 02 is a transition model for the 03 what about the after market parts made for it. There wont be a lot due to the fact that its only going to be around for one year.

I agree the performance should be great...it reads well. It'll probably warrant a test drive.

I'm concerned about the styling. I'm not really a big fan of the 5th gen exterior but I do like the interior. It will have to lose the Chrylser-like grill and the Dodge Neon sunken rear for me to consider it.

Then there's the price. If they jack the price up closer to $30-35k, then they will be competing in a different market. It does look like the Altima will be replacing the current Maxima slot while the Maxima will be elevated to a new position in the company.

I am looking forward to seeing it when it comes out though!

Emax Confused, I'd say....

<sarcasm>

not two weeks ago you were ripping eveything off of your car to sell so you could sink big && in real estate of all things. I think I would work on selling the Maxima before I started ripping the supercharger off of my I30. I mean...that's at least 8k sitting there in your drive doing nothing for you but depreciating. You might get about 4k for all of your mods...maybe more. Take that and total it up and you have ~~12k. Nowwwwww you want to buy a car that costs about 28-31k? Even if you sell your I30 at 9-10k you are only going to have 22k? So where does the other 7-9k come from? The real estate investment over 2 weeks? I know you said you had no money left when you were messing around with the blown tranny about 2-3 weeks ago. I am sorry to joke with you. You are just to hard to keep up with. That job must pay you a $hit load and not require you to work that much because you are always taking things off, putting them on...fixing your tranny etc...they all take more time than you would have after work to complete them...let alone on the weekend Maybe I need to take a lesson from you in time management?!

Good luck on the new Maxima though....it looks like it will be sweet!!!

That would be a challenge because I thought he had a 96. At any rate, I don't think you COULDN'T find a 98 for 10k. However, it would have about 150k on it and be beat up!

Thanks for asking though!

I like what they are doing but....

....I want to see what the 2003 is going to be like. That will weigh my decision heavily. If the 2003 is going to be butt ugly or too expensive, I will be getting a 2002 SE in either Sterling Mist or Super Black.

Trust me, the sounds I am putting in the 3rd gen will go in the new Maxima faster than you can say Music In Motion.
