Had a little fun with some bolt speakers today...
I got some lightning bolt speakers today from best buy and hooked them up the reciever that I bought for the bookshelfs that I am going to attempt to build. These things were smoking like crazy! The speakers were rated at 100rms so I wanted to see if they could actually handle that and wow they took it for about 10 seconds lol. It smelled soooo bad I got a few pics of before but I couldnt stand the smell to take of it while they were being fried lol...

my buddy from work asked me to blow his MB Quart 5 1/4, cus there was a ding in it and Tweeter said they'd only replace it if it was "blown"... so i hooked it up to my 800w amp at the time and started slow, then cranked it... thing took a beating, cant believe it lasted as long as it did, prolly like 20 seconds cranked before it smoked.
If you're going the HT route, did you ever consider getting the speakers from partsexpress.com? You could build a tower with mids and tweets for hella cheap from there. I know that's what I am going to do when and if I ever finish modding the Max.
Yeah I bought a few different drivers off of parts express already. The only reason I got these was because i needed them as a template for something and they were only $10.
BTW Dan did you get my pm?
