This may be an obvious answer to the majority of you, but was hoping you can help me out on this one. Is it possible to use 300zx calipers with stock size rotors? Or were the 300zx calipers intended to be used on larger rotors? (I don't know the size of the 300zx's rotors)

u have to use 300zx claipers with 300zx rotors milled down like 3mm..i think there is another rotor u can use but also has to be milled..or u can buy bracketsd from matt93se and use 12.6" 04/05 maxima rotors or jeff92se and use 13" cobra rotors.........300zx rotors are like 11.1" or something like that i think sotck 4th gen rotors are in the 10" range some where....search isnt working for me right now so i cant give u a def answer

 

It will absolutely NOT work. You have to get different rotors. There are several options. Look in the general forum, there was a recent discussion.

 

The 300z and maxima rotors are the same diameter, but the thickness is different.
The 300z rotor to be used will be determined on which 300z calipers you uses.
The 300z rotors will have to be milled down in order to use the 300z caliper mounted in the Maxima's caliper bracket.
If you go with a larger diamtered rotor, you will need relocation brackets.
Which relocation brackets needed will be by which rotor setup you use.

 

You also may need spacers to center the caliper over the rotor. Not a hard mod at all. And you need the 300zx steel lines.

 

Wrong, you dont need spacers for that.
Now you may need spacers for the wheels to clear the calipers, that is determined by the wheels offset and spoke design.
You cannot use the 300z lines. The fitting for the line to connect to the Maximas hard line is different.
You will need the 240sx conversion lines. These line have the correct end to mount into the 300z caliper and the other side has the correct end to connect to our hard line, no leaks.

 

plus hubcentric rings if you plan to use cobra rotors.

if you want more braking power, but need to clear stock wheels, get q45/j30 dual piston calipers. use them with a q45/j30 rotor milled down 3mm. the lines are the same, so you dont need SS lines.

 

One correction.... you can use 300ZX hoses. You will need the little hard lines that the Z uses to connect the hose to the caliper. The fitting from the Maximas hard line to the hose connection is the same as the Z32. Unless there was some model change along the way? My 96 Max has the hoses from my 94 Z32. I had saved the stock hoses from my Z when I upgraded to SS lines. I had to buy the hard lines, I think they were $10-$12 for the pair from the dealer.

Good info. Thought the rotors would be off centered a little. guess its just my model then.

 

so to clear my stock 15 sawblades. I need:
1)q45/J30 dual piston caliper + lines
2)q45/J30 stock rotors milled down 3mm.
