Testing Crank POS sensor!!!!

Well im having timing issues in my car... im blaming this sensor....

The procedure in the FSM is to remove the sensor... turn the ignition to "ON"
and use a volt meter to measure the sensor from the harness plug... then touch the sensor tip with a screw driver and you should get 5 volts... when you pull it away it should go to 0.....

i get 145 millivots until i touch the sensor with the screwdriver it jumps to 220 milivolts for just a second and then remains at 145 millivolts....

If someone has tested this sensor this way please tell me what you got...

Are you using dc voltage on your meter?
