whell I was thinking aobut getting a fidanza flywheel. and was wondering aobut that, the clutch is aobut 40k right now.

is fidaza better the the UR?
I know I know I read alot aobut being to light will be rough and only nessessary if I'm doing ultimate performanca, but I just wantt o add something more, since I am going to swap my transmission soon.

 

You might as well replace the clutch since you'll have the trans out.... why wouldn't you?

Matter of fact, this might be a good excuse to spring for a 5th gen clutch if you haven't already....

 

In theory, you do. The new flywheel has a perfectly flat surface (and if it's used, *absolutely* get it resurfaced prior to install), and the clutch disk may be worn a little unevenly. Uneven disk against a flat flywheel I think can cause shudder, but it probably isn't as severe as the problem of a new clutch on a worn flywheel. And if it does shudder, it may go away after a break-in period. I did this with mine recently, and it shuddered a little at low speeds, but it's going away. (It's also an ACT pressure plate, which some say shudders anyway when used with the stock motor mounts).

It all depends if you want to risk having to go back in and replace the clutch, and how worn your existing clutch is. I've seen clutch discs toasted in 15k, and I've seen them last 200k - it all depends on the driving style, how many starts/stops you do, etc.

But the reason why i didn't want to replace the clutch is money. (enoguht for the flywheel. but not enough for both.

 

i paid like $140 or so for my clutch kit (oem)... i don't see how you could afford a new flywheel ($400+?) but not the clutch. i don't think there will be any major problem if you don't replace it, but i don't get money being the issue.

 

if i put in a new 5th gen clutch do i need to get a new flywheel? or get mine resurfaced?

 

yes, always resurface or replace your flywheel when you install a new clutch. resurfacing will probably be fine.

 

most of the time resurfacing is fine.....unless there is severe warpage or damage to ur fly wheel then u need to replace

 

well what I believe I meat to say is this.

Should I get a stage 1 clutch when replacing the flywheel to a lighter one.

or the one in it right now would be good for now...
well Iguess I could alwasy go OEM still.
