orcuttkickboxer has a question about a Q45
(note- this is posted for orcuttkickboxer, i dont know anything about him or the car in reference.... this is posted as a courtesy)
I work at a tow yard and have the opportunity to buy a 94 Infinity Q45 first thing tomorrow morning for only $3,000. I did a little homework on it and apparently it has close to 300 hp stock from the 4.5 V8 and a 90mm throttle body. I plan for this to be a daily driver with the ability to knock out some F body Camaro's. I plan to fabricate my own intake, header, and exhaust as well as possibly backing it up with a 75 shot from an NX wet kit. Maybe even a streetable cam regrind.
My question is who should I send the ECU to for recalibrating my shift points for quicker response, and tweaking my rev limiter? I'm questioning weather or not it would be wise to have them alter fuel maps and ignition tables since I plan to squeeze.
I plan to have the car completely done with all mods including ECU mods by next week. That's why I need to know who to send the ECU to ASAP.
Any help would be greatly appretiated.

my family has gone through probably 4 Q45s they are great cars, but they can be troublesom. The Active suspension is something you should stay away from. One thing that will suprise most is how fast these cars are. I have had many good times getting sideways in a Q.
I was REALLY close to buying a 95 Q myself, and they're great cars. Just make sure it doesnt need any maintenence. Check out www.q45.org for some great info about these cars.
Wrong forum, but ah well....
My parents are currently on their second Q45. The first was a '91 (sold) that they bought new and the second, which they currently own, is a 2002. The '91 felt much quicker than the current model and went nearly 80k miles with no major issues. However, it had a serious engine issue when they sold it in '98 after 7 great years. Needless to say, if I had a car that lasted 7 years without any major problems, I would be very pleased. But as some others have said, there have been some problems (with the 94-96 models having more than others) that plagued that era of the Q. All in all it's still a great car that is very powerful for its size.
