MaxSpeed Springs: Good? Bad? PICTURES? Comments?

Hello guys, I have a 2001 SE (see sig.) and I've been offered a set of Maxspeeds for CHEAP...but I'd like to get some feedback/pictures from any members on the .org who are running MaxSpeeds or have comments about them before I go and get the install.

BTW: my 18s are coming this spring.

Thanks guys.

how come there have been a bunch of suspension questions all of a sudden? i'm not flaming you in any way because i understand how difficult it is to decide what drop you want, but there have been threads about springs from H&R to eibach to H-tech to maxspeeds within the last week, and most of them could have been answered either directly in the stickies or through a link in the stickies....it just doesn't make much sense to me

to stop the madness:

Maxspeeds have a nice, even drop, ride quality similar to stock, and work well. Only complaint is that the powdercoating on mine has started to chip off after about 2 years. See my website for photos/more info.

Nope. That problem was cured and was attributed to something else.

I like my Maxspeeds, the car rode lower on my old worn OE struts but have gone up by about 1/4" after replacing them with GR2's.

I got around the rusting issue by painting them prior to installing (plus if you're not a fan of the yellow, it's a good way to make it less obvious).

Got about a year on it and the paint is still intact.

Well I guess it's suspention season, or who knows? I mean LAO, I created that one H-tech thead. I know we have those stickies out there, but there are not all the info I needed to know, so that's the reason I created my thread. Well I remember this past summer we had those oxygen sensors threads all over, cause for some reason they've been getting busted. Well I don't know what's going on right now though, I guess it's indead a suspention season. lol I see it might even turn to a BAN season if some people woun't start reading and searching.

I have Maxspeeds on my ride and they are the way to go - drop looks great but ride is comfortable and stock struts can be used. I would not put them on a show car as the powdercoat does tend to chip.

I've had them for three days now after running on Ksports. THE RIDE is lovely, nice and easy on the stockers. Handling was the biggest surprise, in my mind there was no way they could touch the coilovers.....I was never so happy to be proven wrong. They handle exceptionally well and that’s on stock struts, it does fall short to the Ksports, but not by much and the ride is well worth the sacrifice.

thanks for info guys, i was going to get H&R but after reading this thread i'm going to go with the progress. And sorry to those who this is old news to....don't mean to sound like an @#@hole but some of us just found this ridiculously awsome site and the stickies don't provide enough info so just relax or ignore the post....remember when you first found this forum and just chill. The amount of info i've already learned in 2-3 weeks from this site is immeasurable. thank you to all those people who have already immensely helped me. keep up the good work

LOL Why dont you make a thread called "Who keyed my car at sheppard station in november?" and you can discuss your "incident" there. just a suggestion.

75k,
i think i have money to get Tokico HPs, but not Illuminas, so i was wondering if maxspeed springs will work on OEM, and i'll get TOkico Illuminas, later, most likely this summer or fall.....
u think i should go with maxspeed on OEM struts.
thx

75k miles is getting near the end of their OEM struts life span...however they are pretty resilient and I doubt very much that running aftermarket springs w/ OEM struts will cause you any problems. The thing about new aftermarket struts is that they will have less travel and will be stiffer which works to the benefit of your car's handling since now you will be running stiffer springs. (struts tent to lost "stiffness" over time). IMO go with the maxspeeds now and enjoy the drop for the summer and then you can enjoy it even more when your Tokico's arrive, you shouldnt have any problems with the suspension in the absence of aftermarket struts.

Hello M1RAG3, welcome to the forum. I hope that you're nicer to the folks here than you were on the local maxima forums. Namely after what happened here : http://www.torontomaxima.com/forum/v...ghlight=haters

(the good stuff starts on page 2 whomever wants to get a good read!)
