damn car problems

well it all started when I came back from vacation on tuesday, I was driving for about an hour and i stopped and turned off the car, after a 5 min pause the car would not turn back on, my initial reaction was the battery, i installed a new battery and it still would not start. so my second guess was the starter, i got my car towed to pep boys and they put in a Bosch starter for me and the car started fine, but now leaving pep boys my check engine light came on, i went back to pep boys the next day to ask what the hell they did to my car, they read the code and it said a bad knock and crank sensor. Now my question is could they be responsible for the bad sensors? from my knowledge i know installing a starter has nothing to do with these sensors. Its just a coincidence that the check engine light came on when they finished their job. Let me add I installed an intake in my max just 2 weeks ago. The downside now is that my NYS inspection is up in a week so i have to fix this problem immediately. Thank you for your responses

They shouldn't be too hard of a fix. You should be able to still pass because you have some time. Sometimes shops sabotage, but it's hard to say unless you have more evidence.

Sometimes my 1995 max throws that same code. I found that it came on when the roads were wet and the tires spun a little while the AT tranny was in the middle of shifting. I just reset my light as per the Hayes manual and it didn't come back on.

WHAAAAAAAAAT??????? What are you talking about man? What would a starter have to do with the knock and crank sensors?

what probably happened is the dudes started the car without hooking the harnesses back to the car and it confused the computer.

As long as the car runs fine just reset the ECU

Although would a starter that is causing a loopy-start (i.e. uneven turns) perhaps confuse the CrPS? just a thought... I still vote for what PAREDLINE suggests, reset the ECU and see if the codes come back.

And taking your car to PepBoys for repairs
