rear smoked bumper lens

hey guys,
i was wondering if anyone heard any news on those rear smoked bumper lens from customenterprise?

i was involve in the group buy of the front smoke ones and still have yet to install it hoping to put them on the same time when i get the rear ones. i remember reading sometime last year that it was suppose to be out by december. but nothing on the website shows this.

if someone knows more about this let me and others who are not aware of this situation know whats going on.

TOOLS:

elbow grease, a flathead screwdriver, and a cloth (to prevent scraping the paint).

DIRECTIONS:

for rear, pry from the end closest to the FRONT of the car
for front, pry from the end closest to the BACK of the car

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

pictures are in your owner's manual

so make them yourself do what he said with prying it out..bake them...then paint the sindie..or smoke the lens on the inside...that'll be cheaper..and you wont have to wait any longer

I thought the consensus was that people found it easier to make em themselves... esp since you can tint em just the way you want em too....

It's a lost cause. I was running that GD for the fronts and have been on Custom ever since then to get the rears made. They said there was not enough demand for them. It's nothing but bs to me, but I stopped trying about the end of 05. If you want to call and email them be my guest, but I'm sure you'll get as far as I did with them.

why i say bake..to open the housing because 1. the tint will wear off on the outside....2. here in cali its illegal to tint, but tinting on the inside doesnt make it seem like you did it yourself but it came that way. Thats why.

ok..what you need to do is buy clear rears and fronts...then you bake them...carefully pry them loose...and spray the plastic lens on the inside...get niteshade or some other tint spray...and your good to go..then bake it again...put them back together and viola!!!...if you need an example..go into the fourth gen stickies..im originally from that forum

I ordered a cheapie set of rear clears last week on ebay. I'm going to open them and paint the inside housing black, not the lens. the CE ones appear to have clear lenses, but black rear housings that make them appear smoked.
I'll post once I have smoked, or broken rear bumper lights.

can i paint my OEM ones to black or something?
iam pretty sure that people have done that before?
any pics?
i dont see the point of ordering clear ones, if i order them, i might as well not tint them than.. I am trying to not spend any money and to have it tinted....
so has anyone painted their OEM ones?
thanks

Look at Soonerfans black max in his sig. He tinted them on the outside with paint, as he said in his post. That looks clean too.

i thought about tinting them myself, but i just think that if you buy smoked bumper lights it just looks cleaner, i like how the front ones are made. they look real and not ghetto made. if you decide to tint them yourself, it leaves that rough paint on the outter lens and to me that just looks to ghetto.

but what panda was saying does sound better. i just dont know how it would look. will it look homemade? or will it look real? if someone has already done this, please post some pics of the lens inside and outside so the rest of us can see how they turn out.

thanks
kevin

no, it won't wear off on the outside if you do it correctly. Mine have been smoked to body color for almost 2 years now and nothing has worn off at all. It is illegal everywhere, but the black ones are actually LESS obvious to police than the CM smoked ones, IMO, because they blend into the car.

thats because you are home depot god...thats why yours dont wear off.. no im just saying that lets say you tint it with niteshade; they are more prone to wear off faster. But i dunno, im just telling you what happened with a few of my friends.
