i'm buying a remote for my 98se. the car came with the alarm package, dut i'm not sure if it was taken out. i really doubt that it was, but where would it be located so i could check before i buy the remote?

I know its a easy and dumb question, but i'm new.

 

Do you have security light on your dashboard- to the left of the steering wheel?

Does the light go on/off when you start the car?

Try follow the instructions (in the stickies) to program a new remote, if the lights flash when they are supposed to, then all the hardware is in place and you need to go get a remote (Ebay).

 

yes my security light blinks, thats why i figured it was ok to get a remote, but i thought i might look for the main device to make sure, i read the stickies so i know how to program it.

There is at least one unit in the trunk behind the fender lining near the antenna assembly.

Just see if the lights flash as explained in the programming instructions - that should confirm it.
