I just got a Mavica and have been thinking of creating a website. I am hoping that those of you with there own sites will help me with a few Qs. Need suggestions and info please.
1.) Do you pay for your own sites or is it free space provided by places by homestead and geocities?

2.) Is it hard or easy to create a webpage and what is the best way to go about doing it?

3.) If you are getting free space for your own webpages are you allowed to put mpegs or video content on your sites?

I had more Qs but can't remember them. The reason I want to make my own site is just to add personal stuff and of course, to show off my maxima. I wanted to put informative stuff about the max and do sort of like a how-to page to help people with a 5th gen. on mods or other stuff like putting mpegs on replacing speakers and that sort of stuff. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys

i use geocities...it sucks though...a lot of the links seem broken but then you hit refresh and they work fine

it is free and gives 10mb (i think) of space to use on anything you want (can't be adult pages though...but i don't think they check)

microsoft frontpage is a very advanced and user friendly program to help you out...thats what i used...with that, when you don't feel like coding html you don't have to, but if you want to, you can

There are free website places, but you don't get a yournamegoeshere.com address and your very limited as to what you can do, plus your users will be fighting off pop ups left and right. Some offer database services which ups the price, too. It depends on exactly what you want as to what you are going to pay.

Once you do a few HTML pages you'll get the hang of it: it's pretty easy. It gets more difficult if you start using dynamic HTML

If you're not planning to do anything serious with your website (IE maxima.org) go with a freebee... I didn't know squat about setting up a homepage & I'm still learning basic html .. All you really need is a little patience and some creativity for the perfect homepage..

I set up a sever in my house and host from there. I use FrontPage 2002 cause I'm lazy (I could hand code if I cared). Considering I run my site I have as much space as I can buy.

Try http://maxima.cardomain.com if you want to link your pictures from elsewhere. CarDomain offers really basic webpage stuff (you can upload pictures but not other files like .mov, .mpg, etc.).

Check out my CarDomain site by clicking on the link below (in sig) and see if that's what you want.

That means since you are running your computer as a server, that you are leaving it on all the time right? Also what kind of computer do you have?

What about your other site? Are you paying for the space or is it free? can you upload mpegs? Thanks.
