97 SE 5-Speed will not start.

It was running fine yesterday, then this morning I went to start it and nothing. It does not turn over, all my lights go on fine but just click*click is all your hear out of the starter. I went and bought a starter from Kragen and it is doing the same thing, except the starter is clicking a big louder. I have a new starter now and the battery is pretty new. I put it on the charger, and it is pretty charged up already, just a little low.

Anyone else had this experience? if it wasnt getting spark or fuel, it would atleast be trying to start, but it is not doing anything.

I experience something like this, in the end the start was bad and a push start helped bring it to light.

Test the cps, try a push start is all else fails.

I was going to try a push start, but it is in my driveway, which is on a slope. If I get it down in the street and it doesnt start, then I cannot get it back up in the driveway. It sucks, I hate freak things like this, I am charging the battery up fully now. I was thinking maybe the teeth on the starter didnt mate with the flywheel, tomorrow morning I am going to take it off and put it on really slow to make sure they mate. I am also going to check the ground, put the fresh battery in and hope for the best. If that fails, I might take the starter back and get another one.

Have you starter(s) tested at a local auto store. Dont forget you can push start using reverse, it actually will start better usuing reverse than 1st gear. I found this information out after my car was stuck in the drive way and It has too much slope to get pushed all the way out.

my bet is on the starter.

I think I will do that tomorrow, for sure. Maybe take it to a different auto parts. The thing that sucks, is sometimes stuff tests good but still doesnt work, I had a few alternators like that.

Happened to me this past weekend...I left the map light on in my car Superbowl Sunday when I parked my car after coming up back to school. Needless to say, after a week of sitting there with that one light on, there was no juice left. (I have a 20% tint - it's hard to tell when there's a small light on, and I was parked right underneath a lamp post.) After getting jumped, I also didn't think that far into driving my car to charge the battery, and shut it off after the 5 minute drive to the store. Well, surprise surprise, my battery was drained yet again. After getting another jump, I finally drove around for about 30 minutes through the city at midnight getting that bish charged.

I fixed it. I re-spliced the starter cable where it goes onto the positive terminal, it was a little caked up, works like a champ.
