Auto tranny problem

I was driving around with my friend, and suddenly I noticed a ton of smoke coming out from the bottom of my car. So I immediately pulled over and shut the car off. I looked under my car only to see a HUGE puddle of automatic transmission fluid. My first thought was a crack in the tranny or the torque converter, but previous to me pulling over, the car was shifting perfectly, and showed no symptoms of either problem. I took it to a friend of mine's and he said it might be the seal where the tranny goes into the engine that blew out. My car won't be looked at until next week. Anybody ever experience this problem?

It's not that, the drain plug is still intact. He originally thought it was one of the lines, but he ruled that out. I'll keep this updated when I get an answer.
