4th Gen in Malaysia

I was in Malaysia this past week. They have a version of the Cefiro called Eximo 20G. Probably a 2.0 liter version of the VQ. They also have a version of the Bluebird. The taxi company pick me up with a 25 years old MB W123 diesel.

The locally made Proton brand is a technology transfer with Mitsubishi Motor like Hyundai.

Arriving in Japan on Friday, I noticed the Japanese version of the M35/M45 is called the Fuga.

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/FUGA/Y50/05...EPT/main1.html

They have a car very much like the Scion called Nissan Box.

Pretty cool to see other rides from other countries.

I was in Bolivia in December and saw quite a few different cars than here. They use a lot of Mercedez trucks over there, and little box looking vans (like baby buses). I was driving in this little Nissan car (can't remember the name), but the speedometer cluster looked pretty much like the one in my Maxima, just smaller .

If I recall correctly, they really don't get that much better gas mileage than the 3.0 if anything, which upset a lot of people who bought the 2.0. I can't remember which thread I read that on, but it was on the .org.

The fuga having a V8 isn't anything really special... the M45 is basically the same car as teh Fuga and it has a V8... is that what the V8 was about? I'm confused.

Fuga is the M45 and vice versa, Just different name and badge, same engine, same specs, steering wheel on different side.

hey at least its legite, I"ve seen pictures of Chinese motor companies that have ripped off car companies's designs straight from the drawing board. I thought this would be the same case but guess I was wrong... would be pretty nice to have a 4.5 in a max.

Hi!
I'm one of the 4th gen 3.0 max owner from malaysia , 2.0 they really don't get that much better gas mileage than the 3.0 because they are same body weight but 2.0 got less power (around 155hp).
The reason of people buying the 2.0 max in malaysia it is because the roadtax are cheaper that 3.0

The M45 competes with the MB E clas and BMW 5 series. Neither of those has a V12 option. The original M was brought to the US because I35 had no V8 option. The old M45 has a very stale conservation Japanese styling and was a stop gap until the Fuga/M35/M45 were ready.

In austrailia they could only get a stick in the 2.0... Poor bastards. So maybe the U.S. does not ALWAYS get the **** end of the stick.

The 2.0 is still a V6, hence the not so spectacular gas mileage.

2.0 maximas wouldn't be popular on US market since americans like big a** volume engines Not a big difference in gas mileage though. I recall in Europe max called maxima QX same thing as I30

Boy I sure wish I had a 2.0. Less horsepower and similiar fuel efficiency sounds like a win-win!

Many countries including Japan tax cars on engine displacement size. So 2.0L was made to be under that limit. In Japan, road conditions are so cramped that power doesn't do much. I rode in a 2.5L Mitsubishi wagon last weekend in Japan and it had enough power even on their freeway. I saw a MB S500 in the fast lane behind a yellow plate liter pickup truck (you see those being used on golf courses). There is absolutely nothing it can use the 350HP for.

These are reardrive engines. The A32/A33 are not wide enough between the strut towers to shoe horn the extra cylinder pair in.

You are right, it was the Cube. This car had an asymmetrical rear window with a thick C pillar on the right side. So it would make a big blind spot for a LHD car. This didn't deter Isuzu to import the Trooper with a rear door design for RHD into the U.S.

Beats me. May be that's why they nearly went bankrupt until the French (actually Spanish) guy became their CEO.

I past by Mazda's test track in Miyoshi near Hiroshima last year. It is ringed with dirt banks and tall trees. It is said that Nissan and Toyota have spys camped out there.

Has anyone seen what the Maxima (Cefiro) looks like in Taiwan?? Exterior design is just about that of the I30 which ya know...but the interior I feel North American models got jipped on. I saw one that had the matching side door panels as the color of the dash, which made the leather insert really stand out. Plus they offered wood auto shifter, steerring wheel and wood across the leather insert to kinda "set it off".

I rode in one a few years ago over there. May be it wasn't the top level trim but it didn't feel any better than an I30. This is a very popular car in Taiwan and there were many around.

French company with only an equity stake and a Brazilian CEO. Keep in kind that while many of the Japanese sports cars died off in the U.S., they lived on in Japan due to their popularity. They gained more hp and more gears as time went on.

Some how I doubt Nissan is spying on Ford owned, market share lossing Mazda, seeing that the best they can come up with is a 235 hp torque less turd named the RX-8... Definately NOT any RX-7 TT. I guess the apple DOES fall far from the tree at Mazda.

The interior stuff will fit your Max... All of it will fit an I30.

Why would it ride any differently than an I30?? They are both A32. The one in taiwan just has a variable intake and some fancy headlights and grill. All that can easily be added though... just look at my sig.

They warship this guy in Japan. If a Japanese did what he did at Nissan, he would have been kicked out. The Japan car market is very tough. Smaller in size and with many more models. Nissan would've been dead if not for the export market and this Renault guy.

A friend got a ticket from a Orbis (camera speed trap) and it cost him $800. The population density and road condition is as such that these high performance cars are exercise in futility. They have a word for them in Japan that I shall not repeat here. This Renault guy cleaned all that out and brought the company back to life.

I don't really know whether there are spys at Miyoshi or not. That's only what the locals said.

first off why would nissan and toyota have spycamps at the maxda's test track? As the other guy said their best car is the light weight 235hp mazda RX-8 which is nice to have but not for fuel efficency compared to our cars. I heard the MPG are bad due to their rotary engine. Our lux family car ahs more hp then their sports car. How often does that happen?

Why would Nissan kick out a Japanese CEO that brings success?? That makes no sense. Typically the Japanses are not trustful of a gaigin, but since Carlos Ghosn has brought much needed improvement and results, he is tolerated. I'm sure they make fun of his @ss behind his back.

We have camera speed traps in this country. We have areas of high population density as well, and high performance cars are not an exercise in futility in this country. Niether is it in Japan. They have devices called radar detectors just like in this country.

The Renault guy has done exactly opposite of what you say. He actually brought BACK the Japanese sports car to the US market. The G35 and the 350Z and the up coming GTR are proof of this. They never went away in Japan. The 300ZXTT lasted from 1990-2002 in that country. Six years longer than in this country. He did not clean out performance in Japan. Ghosn is taking cars that already exist and making them better in that country. You need to read a case study.
