Performance MEVI v OOVI
Performance MEVI v OOVI
Is there any significant difference in power produced by one over the other?? I read where MEVI seems to produce more power in higher RPM ranges (5K-6.5K?? While OOVI was more of a balanced "across the board" power to about 5.5K. Am I understanding this correctly? Also, MEVI is supposed to be slightly easier (less add-on components needed) to install on VQ30/ 4th generation...true?? Would a MEVI be a better choice if turbocharging was a possible "future wild hair" ?? Thank you for your input and reasons behind your choice. Doug
Hey Doug, to answer your question yes the 00VI will produce more HP than the MEVI. Here's the link http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=424641. The nice thing about the MEVI however is that it is a direct replacement for the stock USIM vs. the 00VI which will take some modifying. As for forced induction Im not really sure - I would assume the same results would hold as that of NA but I would definitely ask the guys in the FI forums; they really know their stuff. good luck
edit: heres another page that probably has some useful links

edit #2: you will need to extend the rev limiter to benefit either of these 2 applications since thats where alot of the extra power is made.

Thank you all, so very much.... let's just forget it OR does anyone else want to get in on "look for it"?? OK, I've looked but I'll be sure to wait for your next posts so I can tell you its all in the stickies/already posted... "look for it" Afterall, EVERYTHING has been posted, hasn't it
The 00vi should be better for boosted apps as well. StephenMax dynoed on a MEVI and 00vi setup with his S/C, and there was a very noticable increase.
As for the extended rev limiter, it will not be needed with the 00vi AS BADLY as if you went for the MEVI instead. With the MEVI, you lose power down low, but gain up high. This will actually yield you little to no gain in quarter mile times alone. However, with an extended rev limiter, you can take advantage of the powerband which continues past our stock rev limiter.
With the 00vi, you can take advantage of gains up high, but retain your stock (or close) torque band down low. This allows you to run this IM setup efficiently without the need for an ecu, however, that would help drastically.
As said before, there is much more customization in the 00vi conversion, rather than the true bolt on that the MEVI consists of.

Thank you Big Lou! This is the type of feedback asked for...I guess SOMEONE is willing to help instead of joining in on the flamewagon. How 'bout if ya don't want to help; just go on to another post...nobody needs, or asked for, "cute"/garbage replies. Yeah folks!, some questions may have been covered (and read! but someone else may be trying to get more specific in-put, user opinions or a different angle. If you really, REALLY, feel the post isn't worthy of YOUR "educated" input... save your time and effort typing useless comments and go on, please.
Thanks again, BIG LOU.
