Compustar Alarm Setup Questions 4th Gen
Alarm Setup Questions 4th Gen/Which 2way alarm to get?
Hey guys. I have my mind set on buying the compustar 2WSS-AS. I am being told that there is an Automatic One and a Manual One. Does it really matter? How would I know the difference other than fine print?
My other question is how hard is it to connect a remote starter to the 4th gen? I connected a few remote starter alarms to 3rd Gen Camrys but never for a max. I know that I need to know where the NSS wire is and the Tach wire. Where are they located? Thanks in advance.

The manual one, to get it to remote start, you basically have to do turbo timer mode every time you leave the car, iirc. Since maximas have factory neutral safety wires, you can use an automatic one and be fine.
I saw thread with Compustar Vs. Viper and it made me lean more towards the Compustar. That's my main concern. I park my car in the downtown area and I can't get a signal from my car so I can't see what's happening and I can't start the car. Any specific DEI alarm you recommend?
The Clifford G5 5.5X upon its release. Although dunno if your ready to spend that kind of coin.
Otherwise Clifford RS3.5
Compustars range isnt all that its cracked up to be. Also bear in mind whens the last time you left your car to only go within a mile away? Then your alarm goes off, exactly how fast can you run an obstructed mile? What energy do you still have left by the time you reach it? Will the theif or potential thief still be there waiting?
DEI isnt the world leader in security for nothing, they know a bit about what theyre doing.
I carry both Compustar and Clifford. Customers choose the Clifford 35-1 over the Compustars.

I have this installed along with my alarm and remote starter...the range of the remote is definately not a concern of mine anymore, all I need is a telephone. It helped me out last week when I forgot to place my alarm in valet mode prior to leaving it at a garage. When I got back to the garage, the alarm had self armed and locked the keys in the car. I calmly took my cell phone out, called up the toll free number and about a minute later got into my car and drove off.
Ok. From what you are telling me I should stay away from Autopage and Compustar. So clifford is the way to go? What would be the difference between Viper and Clifford? The name?

Dont get me wrong, Compustar isnt "bad" just not what I would personally use nor many others would.
Clifford/Viper/Python generally the same with cosmetic differences, with the exception of Clifford using a digital shock sensor rather than the generic 504D.

Why not just come up and Ill throw one in for ya? You certainly wouldnt be the first and Im sure you wont be the last...
i've had my compustar on my 5th gen for 4yrs....and no problems...from my knowledge there isn't an auto/manual version, just depends on how u install it....the autostart looked easy to install on mine, my installer said it was pretty easy, just alot of wires to management and look nice...
