Speedometer reading issues

I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima. I have the factory size tires on there, but I drove side by side in my gfs Pontiac Bonneville and when she is going 60 my speedo reads 64~65 range. When going 65 for her, my needle is on the last tick right before 70mph. Its like this for all speed ranges. 20, 30, 40, 50, ETC. What could be causing this issue? At first I thought everyone was speeding when passing me on the highway and on the roads. Even the car felt like it wasnt going that particular speed. Its been this way since Ive had the car since December. Can someone help me out?

It may need to be recalibrated. I wouldn't worry to much about it, just make sure you factor that your 5 mph below at highway speeds and that should help you out.

I do, but ironically enough my 88 maxima is the same way. I was hoping Id get away from that habit when driving this car. How does this recalibration work?

I'm not sure, but I believe the dealer has to do it. I don't know of any DIY's for it or anything. Maybe call the dealer and see if they can do it for a decent price. Also... maybe her car is off?

A good way to test that woudl be drive both your max's at the same speed her in one and you in the other and see if their equal.

Alright cool, let us know how much they say. A mechanic may be able to do it as well.

How did you notice 4 or 5 mph? I wouldn't even fix it, they will charge you hundreds at the dealer. If it bothers you that much get a used cluster on fleabay, for like $50 bucks. It will probably work the same as that one, only real way to test speedo is to hook it up to a scanner and drive around. Compare the scanner reading with your speedo.

Drove side by side constant speed. I told them to go to a certain speed and let me get next to them to see where my speedo is once I hit that particular speed. Even just driving constant speed next to any car it did the same thing.
