Oyea! How I love the snow. (accident *pics*)

Well we got hit with a new big snow storm here yesterday. I was on my way to school in which was in the middle of rush hour tracffic, the road conditions were horrible. I was getting on to the on-ramp to an interstate, it was a long sweeping left turn bridge. The bridge were extremely icy so I was going about 5-10 mph at most. as I came around to the end of the bridge, I see this Tahoe off to my left which had skid off the road a good 50-75 ft and was actually on the side of a downhill slope. On the side of the road was Corolla and a trailer towed by another Tahoe. As I got closer, my rear end suddenly lose traction and kicked up to the right, I immediately try to correct it but I ran out of room, it was all damage control, I was only able to starighten it out enough to aviod direct hit and was able to only side swept the corolla's rear quarter panel and fortunately avoid skidding down the side of her car, I stop by hitting the rear end of the trailer. Fortunately, I was travel slow enough that it was all dead weight by the time I hit them and it didnt do much damage to their cars. Unfortunately, my car got the blunt end of the accident.
What made me mad was the fact that they were in the direct path of where the Tahoe skid off the side of the road..... If they had stopped a 100 ft down the on ramp, I would have totally aviod the accident and skid off the road. While we were there waiting for the cops to come, 4-5 other cars did the same thing and nearly hit the two cars again, one even went off the road few feet from the cars to aviod hitting them
Well today I bought a new fender and I will be getting it painted next week, the whole things is gonna cost me around $300 which is better than paying my $500 deductable and far better what could have happened. I'm just glad that it didnt mess any off my IC pipes. Well pics are below so enjoy!

Thankfully no frame damage, I wasnt going fast enough to do anymore damage than crushing and benting the fender.

Correction - If you had kept your car under control, given the slipery road conditions, YOU would have avoided the accident.

Wow, no need to rub salt in the guy's wounds. I don't really think he was blaming them, just going through the what ifs like we would all do.

correction- I never said I had my car under control... hence i skidded.
I said if they werent there right at the path of where the previous car spung out, this could have been avoided easily even if I lost control.
Please dont said here and be an **** about it, if a similar situation happen to you, you would feel diffferently regardless if you were the pne hitting or getting hit.

I swore I was going no faster than 10mph, even the people that I hit agreed, it was on an incline(downhill) bridge so it gets icy when it snows and it was not plowed. I'm not blaming anyone else but the fact that it was a bad day to drive and my luck of getting into accident.

BTW- I had to go to calss cuz it was a review for a final thats coming up next week, funny thing is I left 45 mins early and ended up showing up 2hrs late.

Hey I know that night sucked. One of the guys at my work slid into another car in our shuttle wagon. The manager came down to get mad and slipped and fell in the exact spot, that was an icy night. Im glad it wasnt more damage than it is to your car.

Sorry about your car. Being able to get it fixed for $300 is a very good deal. Most body shops won't even fix a door ding for less than $500. When I hit a deer with my Infiniti, it looked like nothing and cost over $5k. Crap, one HID headlight was over $1100.

Do they let you guys have studded tires in Utah? It looks like you have some kind of snow tires, but I can't really tell in the pics.

I put them on my Max and our QX4. Big help on days when there is no sand or plowing -- the studs are great on icy/packed snow conditions, especially on-ramps and off-ramps. I live on a big hill and I can make it up or down in either car with no problems as long as they have clearance.

sorry to hear what happened.

It doesnt look as bad as it sounded. Good thing you can fix it and dont have to pay someone else, the cost would be higher.

They allow studded tires, but since our storms are so few and far between, most people either opt for all seasons or just some form of snow tire. I have dunlop winter sports and they do just fine for me.

Don't be a d!ck. I spun out when i had control of the car the same night going less than 10. If you would have saw the roads you won't be a *****.

I doubt he was. With how icy the roads where all over the valley i believe he was going 10. I was going less than 10 coming to a light and lost control and almost hit a jeep.

Sorry to hear justin, i thought you were going to say that there was major damage when you called me. You got me scurred

Ben, I'm glad you didnt hit anyone. I thought at first it was more damage than this so I was freaking out thought it was gonna cost me more money that I really dont have to fix.
With the taken care of, all I have to do to fix my stinking boost leak. 2 psi is not fun at all.

frame damage? there's barely any fender damage there..

your car's fine, I wouldve just gone over the fender with some touch up paint, and called it a day, not really anything to make a big deal about.

someone asked that question about frame damage. No there is no frame damage at all, it was a minor fender bender. If I was going faster it would be different.

on the touch up paint...

I'm from Indiana originally and DO NOT miss driving in the snow. The biggest problem I have found in AZ is people running red lights.
