Aaron92SE is who you need to talk to (I am sure others as well but know for sure he has done it). He has had a converter made and also has a different or modified valve body. I am sure if he sees this thread he will respond but if not I am sure you can PM or email him to ask. He is pretty open with that stuff.

I got my valve body recalibrated by Maximum Tuning, which I swear by! They had great customer service when I dealt with them a few years ago.

http://www.maximumtuning.net/

They are in NY.

DO NOT even consider Don Cooper with MobileTek. I want you to run from that! I have to let it be known that he is a thief out to con people when he thinks he can get away with it.

About the torque converter, I am sure you mean a high stall unit. That is a GREAT mod to do! Both the shift kit and high stall TC are awesome! They are definitely better than doing intake and Ypipe (which still should be done).

Call up Andre at Edge Racing Converters. They are located in Simi Valley, CA and they have the best customer service!! I mean the best! And an awesome product.

You won't find much on both of those websites. You have to pick up the phone and call them if you are serious.

With the valve body, you will have to remove your stock unit and ship it to them. Unless, by any chance, have a recalibrated unit in stock. But, you will have to remove your stock unit, ship it overnight, they recalibrate it and overnight it back to you. Usually you car can be back up and running within 3 or 4 days.

As for the torque converter, Andre should be able to source for you a unit he can rebuild. You car won't be down if he can find a unit for you, which he should. He should require a core exchange, but since they are so heavy and expensive to ship, he might or might not require you to return your stock unit. I still have my stock unit.

Here is a link to some pics of my torque converter install:

IIRC, transgo makes a "shift kit" for our maxs' auto transmissions for about $40. No experience with this, but curious how it works myself!

Edit more info just googled:
http://www.txchange.com/sk.htm
"SK® RE4F02A

Maxima 85-96, Pulsar 88-90 Stanza 86-90 4 speed
RE4F02A & RL4F02A
Corrects/Prevents/Reduces:
Falls out of gear at a stop when hot, delayed forward engagement, no 3rd after a 3-2 or 4-2 kickdown, 4-3 or 4-2 kickdown runaway, 3-4 clutch burnup, direct clutch inner seal leak, soft 1-2 and 2-3 shift. High-Temp/Low Shrink rings assure quality shifts and extend durability "

This is a very mild shift kit meant to be installed strictly to help lengthen the life of a tranny and reduce transmission fluid temps. The only person that I know off that has this shift kit is dmontzsta. He's had this for years and he says it's a mild shift, but definitely firmer than stock. But it's no where CLOSE to a performance shift like I have. And I have what is consider a street/strip shift kit. I will be quickening my shifts more when I seriously build it up in the future.

the transgo shift kit is not bad. it's a few seals, springs and check ***** to replace. if you know what you're doing you can mod the transgo kit to perform better.

protorque also has the torque convertor available with whatever stall you want.

FYI aaron i'm running transgo w/ the protorque...also running a "built" (better clutches and etc) tranny...with the PG LSD.

I didn't know that. The ONLY reason I didn't go with Protorque is b/c they wouldn't respond to my email. They simply did a copy and paste generic email reply which didn't answer any of my questions. So I chose a different company. I'm funny like that. If a company doesn't have the time for me, I don't for them.

I'm not saying Protorque is a bad company or product by ANY means. In fact, I've heard great things from them!

As for transgo, I've had no personal experience from them. But I've gone by the research I've done in the past. I've heard it's not a seriously firm shift, it's just meant to improve durability.

What is a PG LSD? Never heard of PG.

I <3 the transgo for the price I've done a couple C4's and 700R4's, always wondered how it would stand up in a maxipad but didn't feel like buying an auto to find out

How do you like the PG? I was considering it for the 5th gen. The difference between the stock LSD and open is amazing lol.

Great, info, thanks! The transgo shift kit sounds perfect for my application (daily driver)... if I keep the car much longer, this will be my next upgrade.

How "difficult" is it to use the TransGo kit? I am pretty capable in terms of working with the engine, but I have 0 experience with transmission stuff.
