Noob Questions

I am considering buying a 5.5 Gen Max SE. One of my main concerns is HID Theft. After a search I found that there have been some kits to keep the kits in better but non of them were recent. I also saw things about hood latches. Where can I get these, how effective are they and how much are they? And does anyone know how much of a problem HID theft is in Charlotte NC? That is where I will be going 2 school next year.

If I do get the max I will be intrested in doing some minor suspension work. Are there any springs that will give me like a 1 inch drop, stiffen the suspension and allow me to keep the stock struts? And a car noob question, in general what is the difference between shocks and struts and coilovers?
Edit: ok I did a little more research, If I got something like the Eibach pro that have a 1.3 and 1.0 drop could I comfortable keep the stock struts?

Thanks!!

Kits .. or whatever you do won't deter a thief to steal them....so if you go for the car.. make sure you keep an eye on it and a good alarm system with all the goodies in it. Park always in lighted areas and PRAY!!!!

As for the springs I have Maxsppeds.. the real deal for the money... mostly the same ride as with the factoiry ones.. but with a drop. H&R's are the same but more expensive and coilovers well let's someone who has them explain it to you...

Answers to these questions are in the springs/suspension sticky at the top of the forum page. Go through all the stickies.... plenty of info there.

I am going to be in college so I am not really always going to be able to be around my car or be to picky on where it is parked. Also I don't think I have comprehensive insurance to cover theft but I could look into it. I will probably just have to go with the alarm system although that still won't stop some people

The links that Klop posted at the bottom of the first post in that thread are particularly useful.
