Has anyone successfully changed their climate control reading from F to C ???

I've been trying to change the climate control temp reading from Fahrenheit to Celsius.
I read in an old thread some time ago that all you have to do is ground pin 14 on the bigger connector in the back of the climate control. I verified it against a diagram from the FSM & it seems like it's true.

After grounding Pin 14, it was still reading in Fahrenheit. I took apart the climate control and on the chip board, it seems like Pin 14 isn't really going anywhere (it's blank).

Has anyone done it and it actually works??? I've given up after seeing that it doesn't go anywhere on the chip but I thought that I'd ask you experts here.

You have to get the unit into diagnostic mode. Thats where you can change the default settings. There is a thread, probably a few years old that explains how that is done. It should also be outlined in the FSM someplace.

Here's diag mode: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....highlight=temp

Searched around a bit and haven't found anyone having any luck at changing temp reading.

Thanks for the help.

I don't live in the US - that's why I want C to be displayed.

When you get it into the diag mode, you can't change from F to C in there.

I'm searching german e-bay for a used unit that already has it in C but no luck yet.

You're not the only one. Here in Mexico all the earlier models were direct imports, so mine has mph and degrees F, and I want kph and degrees C.

Yeah, I've learned to deal with the MPH; although when driving with other people in the car, they always say that the car feels a lot faster than it reads on the speedo, then they notice it's MPH not KPH

Climate control is ticking me off, especially with the AMB button, i'm sick of converting it in my head constantly

Yeah, the 98 FSM shows it's #14 that goes to ground for Canadian models only which i figured would be the temp in C but it looks like it isn't connected to the actual chip board.
