Drain Plug / magnetic

is there a downside to putting in a magnetic drain plug ( main oil pan) to, as advertised, catch small metallic filings and prevent wear? any do' / dont's?

Don't do it, it messes up your radio and satalite reception.
Sometimes it even causes a CEL which means you have to replace the KS.
Oh and then the EVAP codes start coming for no reason.......

But you do gain about .000534hp on the dyno.

Stick with your regular oil drain bolt. If you have metal shavings throughout your motor with-in 3-5K miles, you have some major problems

I agree w/ matty, you probably don't need it. Just do regular oil / filter changes and you should be fine.
