Does anyone know what are the differences between the 2000-2001 Euro Maxima and the US Maxima, other than the exterior/interior look. (it looks like I30)

I am really interested in the differences under the hood. Why is the Euro Maxima rated at 200hp, when the US spec one is rated at 222hp? Same engine....different numbers. What could be the difference?
Any other major differences under the hood?

Someone said before that they are just detuned a bit for less hp. I could be wrong.

 

The Euro spec. cars have been sold for years with the DIN HP (German/Euro spec.) rating, which is equivalent to the new (2004) SAE HP specification used on the 2006 cars sold in North America. This has forced the manufacturers (especially the Japanese) to revise their HP figures, and in the case of the Japanese....downward. So the 222 HP VQ30, if it was rated under the new spec. would be more like 200 HP.

 

the diffirence is...its not a Maxima. its an I30, plain and simple

 

soonerfan.....The Maxis and I30s and I35s of the same year sold in NA have the same engines and the same HP ratings.

 

The Euro Maxima A33 VQ30DE doesn't have the NVTCS - variable valve timing, so probably this is the reason...
Everything else under the hood seems to be same except the dual tip muffler - Euro model has just a single tip...

2000-2001 US Maximas don't have variable valve timing either.

 

I thougth it has... after reading this info about Inifniti I30 00-01'

Even Nissan screws up. Here's the specsheet for the Maxima, which shares the same engine, identical, minus the engine cover.
