Couple questions about 5spd swap

alright guys i've got almost everything I need to do my swap but I ran into a couple problems.

First off.. according to the write up on vqpower.. I need ONE manual motor mount. When i called my local nissan dealership..they told me I need ALL the manual motor mounts as they're all different... wtf?

I have a feeling they dont know what they're talking about.. so my question is do i need ONE manual motor mount..or ALL of them?? If I only need one..which one do I need? (proper name for it or part number if possible..this is for a 98 maxima)

Second question... for the hydraulic lines... I need all 4 of them.. correct?

any help would be appreciated... thanks a lot!

You need the front motor mount. The rear is the same. This should be a given, but you need the manual transmission mount too.

you only need one manual motor mount, the one that goes to the tranny. Nissan has no clue what they're talking about.

And I thought there were only two hydralic lines to install, ceramic ones at least. you can eliminate the upper bleeder by using a stainless steel clutch line.

Good luck on the swap, shoot me a PM if you have any other questions.

thanks a lot guys...

so I only need one mount then? the one that goes to the tranny? seems easy enough I'll let them know...

as for the hydraulic lines... the dealership told me there's FOUR different hydraulic lines that run between master/slave cylinders and clutch.. =\

if there's only TWO lines I need... which two do i need?

Tavarish: if I go ahead and get a SS clutch line.. which lines would I need then from the dealership?

thanks again!

I thought you need the front motor mount to be changed, cause SE came with the electronically controlled motor mount for the auto. So if you do the swap and have the original mount it is going to be rough as I read it somewhere back in the day.

thanks a lot for the input... new front mount it is

I guess my last question would be... since there's 4 hydraulic lines that need to get replaced... if i get the SS clutch lines... what are the other lines I'd need to get from the stealership? (basically which lines do the SS clutch lines replace so that I dont get duplicate lines from the stealership)

If anyone knows the answer to this...it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

OKAY!!! ENOUGH OF THESE CRAPPY AZZ ANSWERS!!

heres what you WILL need

1.the M/T motor mount. the one for the tranny any one from 95-99 will fit.

2.washers, a whole bunch of them for the correct spacing on the master cylinder.

3. you can use the stock clutch lines if you want the all natural look, thats what i did. or you can just run a ss line to the slave cylnder.

dont touch ANYTHING ELSE!!!

if you still need answers then pm me ill send you pics and fill ya in.

Yooo....good luck on the install. I printed the same instructions you are planning to use. I must have read it 5 times and still didn't find te ***** to do it. Finding a manuel car sounded easier, but there aren't any around. Myabe I'll get around to that too and you'll help me with what you have learned. Good luck and enjoy it...tell me how nice it is when u race it for the first time Take it eazy breezy

P.S. can I put a 6 speed of a 2002-03 on a 95??? If so, that would be great. With a short shifter...ohhhhh

sounds like a plan, but i live in montreal(5 hrs est). It's funny cause i'm in Toronto now, but the max is at home...i really wanted to take it for the drive.
Ok about the swap...i have to find parts and 5 sp maximas are hard to find. Scrap yards in a 50 Km radius have none....I have to do some shoppping and I need to find some discount parts. Can anyone help in that department??
I'm mechanicly inclined aswell by the way

thanks for all the help..didn't expect to see so many responses!

Blackwind: thanks! expect to see a PM in a min or two

S0ber...thanks for the additional info.. I plan on changing the front motor mount as well =)

95mtlMAXSE: I woulda sold my max and got a 5spd however I've modified quite a bit on my current maxima..just about everything has been changed besides the frame lol. A 5spd swap is worth it for me As for finding parts.. took me quite awhile too! My tranny is actually from a 2K1 AE edition since it has LSD and i couldn't find any other 4th gen maxima in CANADA that had a 5spd available =\ all my other parts were either bought brand new (flywheel/clutch kit/master + slave cylinder etc etc) or picked up at a scrap yard.

black97: thanks for the offer! My mechanics will be doing it for me as they've done this swap before... it's just that I need to get them the parts needed... so that's why i'm trying to figure out just what i'll need It's good to know there's help nearby!

instead of buying all those lines there is an org member selling a ss line that replaces ALL of the lines from the slave to the master cylinder. I don't remember his name but it was in the sale section under general.

Does that SS line replace ALL the hydraulic lines..or do I still need one more line from the master to the slave cylinder?

thanks!

the ss line in the group buy is not the one you are looking for if you want to replace all the lines from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder. The one i linked you to completely replaces all of the lines(so you would only need this one line). The one from the group buy only replaces 2 rubber lines, and you will still need 2 hard lines and a junction box. I would either just get the ss line i linked you to or make your own hard line from the master cylinder to the ss line that you got from the group buy. I found it really hard to run those oem hardlines and messed up one of the ends.
