that is a huge rip off, it takes less than 5 minutes to get the HU out, plus either soldering or crimping a bunch of wires, its a two hour job max taking your time

You need to get a PAC-ROEM-NIS2. Thats the part you need if you are changing the head unit and not the speakers. If you are chaning the speakers and not the head unit, then you need the PAC-AOEM-NIS2. If you change the head unit WITHOUT this adapter, you will most likely blow either the head unit or the speakers. Reason being because the bose have amplified lines.

If youre replacing both the speakers and head unit all you need to get is a din pocket and speaker wires. Its not that difficult. You don't need all this other crap like harnesses and adapters. While your at it get a solder kit so you can use it on this install and you probably want to upgrade later. I found audio to be a very addictive field.

Go to the audio forum to find out which colors are for acc switch, main power wire, and power antenna (if you use the radio you probably want to put a switch on it). Tap into those wires and call it day and don't forget to ground it (connect the black wire to the metal frame). Being that this is your first time put aside a good 3 hours to get it done right.

Go to the audio/electronics forum and read the stickies from there. All the info is free, you don't need to pay $300 for it, just search thru the stickies.

the adapter should have a harness with it.....a line convertor will work too but u have to decide which color wires goto which speakers and use all the pre-amp out puts on ur headunit if it has more than one...most so....but wal-mart sells the interface...andif u were in buffalo i would do it for you

I didnt even use the adapter, I just cut the power wires to the amps, removed them, and connected the signal wires (amp input directly to amp output) and taped up the hot wire to the amps. I still have the stock bose speakes just with a panasonic head unit. all you need is the wiring harness adapter and antenna adapter. Max time for beginner 1hr.

yeah you can just hook up the harness and it works, but its VERY LOUD, because each speaker has its own amp so you need to bypass the circuit around the amps and it works fine. Im sure you don't have to cut the power to the amps, but I just removed them because they sell on ebay and I could use the extra cash at the time. But the front speaker amps are in the door directly beside each speaker, and the back amps are mounted in the little black cup on the back side of the speaker. you can access them easily through the trunk. The part that takes the longest is taking your door panels on and off.

no prob, once you install the new head unit and bypass the amps, installing new speakers is as easy as conecting the old wires to the new speakers.

Oh nice ka$h! That really helps one question i jsut thought of because i jsut learned that all the speakers amps are pretty much attached to the speaker.

Now if that is true cant i just plug in a normal wiring harness and just cut the speaker wire before the amp so the wires arent amplified and plug the wire into my new spekers? or will it not work that way ,because if i can ill do it like that if not ka$h's way looks the best btw i really appreciate everything ka$h that pic is gonna save my life

i was interested in getting a new hu and speakers cause 3 out of my four original speakers are messed up. and i heard that installation and all that stuff for my 95 is toughy and would cost some money. so are you sure i can just buy the new hu and speakers and hook em with just using the original wires?

Thats what im tring to figure out. I know one way is the way ka$h explained, but i was wondering if i could jsut take stock speakers and amp out and just hook those wires to my aftermarket speakers and i wont need amps since my aftermarket HU has a preamp

ok, i have done some work on two different Bose Systems

1. 2000 Maxima with Bose - The car had a Bose head unit, Bose speakers, ONE amplifier, and ONE sub..the speakers were not individually amplified like our 4th gen's are. anyway, I replaced all the speakers, cuz i was misled..of course, you can just replace the head unit. to get to the point, you can disconnect the wire harness that plugs into the speaker, cut off the little harness, and identify which is the positive wire and which is negative. when you put in your new speaker, all you do is take each respective wire and securely wrap it around the metal prong, and that will work. so, as far as my 2000 bose maxima goes, I did NOT have to replace the wiring in the car.

2. 1998 Maxima with Bose - After learning that you don't really need to replace the speakers on Bose to get an aftermarket head unit, I decided to try out the Scosche adapter, which will adjust for the Bose speaker specs. If you install it just the way I did, you will get it to work just fine. you wont even have to mess with any speakers, and you will get great sound.

open to more questions..

ok, so you need the following

1. wiring harness (available at walmart, but mine carried a very outdated one that didnt work for some reason, so i had to get it from best buy)
2. antenna adapter (got it from best buy)
3. scosche adapter (available at walmart)
4. possibly a power wire (they say to use this for some head units, to run it straight to the battery from the head unit)

and u know ur tools - screw drivers, crimper, needle nose pliers, electrical tape/solder, etc
