2nd 5.5gen Written OFF - RIP 2k3 pics inside

Well boys and girls.

I got into a major accident on saturday.. And i finally want to share it with you guys. It hurts a lot to see these pictures because i wrote off my 2k2... now my 2k3 which was heavily modified (just instaleld the headers and catback cattamn).

In a nut shell.. i was going straight doing about 70km/h, and lady sneakss in to make a left. I hit her left corner, her car spun aroudn and hit my back of the car.

The insurance deemed it NOT AT FAULT, and i am getting paid out on the car as it is written off. I miss my car so much.. I finally had it setup perfectly. I test drove all these new cars, and they are NO WHERE NEAR the performance level o fm y maxima.

THe worst is that i just had a new VQ35DE motor installed!... here is my mods list.

Glad to hear you are ok... Man that sucks about the car though.

Good luck with a new car, looking at another Max? See if you can pull your headers and catback from the wrecked car if they are ok.

I dont suppose you could remove the speedometer to sell me?

You could make more in parts if you bought it back from the Ins. Co.

I am contemplating on buying it out at $6K CDN.. the mods are not easy to remove.. but then i dont know where to store the car for the mean time.

The car has a CLEAN title.. No salvage title.. The reason for the write off is because of the 70% rule. They valued the car at $22K CDN but the repairs are in excess of 17K.

I guess i could sell the parts out right. but i ahve to figure this out.

unless structural damage you could def replace parts for less than 17k. they are going off of dealer part cost. i converted my entire 2k bump to 2k3 for a little over 200, from dealer estimate to be around 2k. how many miles? i'd say buy it back. wait and you had a new engine put in? dude you are crazy, if you don't buy it back. you had to owe on it still, eh? come on you could buy the new front bump(got my used oem on ebay for 50,oem fogs 120,2 oem hids 500) hood, fender. then just spend the money to have a pro fabricate the missing, damaged parts lost in fender and paint. something i don'y like to tell anyone but i bought my max with 9k for 5k$ from flood salvage. i changed all calipers and now have 65k with not a single problem. do it imho

Its true.

I test drove so many cars, and nothing matches the potential of my maxima.

At $6K, i am strongly considering it. But I know whats going to happen, i am going to go INSANE on modding the car - ie.
Z3 Fenders
Carbon fiber hood
Body kit
New clutch (not sure if the current tranny is damaged as the axle is fukked beyond belief).
New windshield
New coilovers
New front brakes (i think the current is fukked up)
New paint.
New air bags

The only thing is that I dont have time to deal with all of this and it seems that getting all these parts and ordering them is going to take forever. But damn the maxima would look so sweet.

My main concern is the main harness. If thats messed up its going to be crazy trying to get that back in order. I dont know what else is mangled under the hood. But i will have to see.

Man what a bummer. Like everyone else said, at least you are well and live to mod again! I think it would be best if you could buy the car back and swap the mods onto the new car. Then you could piece out the rest of the car and make a large portion of the $6K back and not have to buy all your mods again.
Good luck with the next set of wheels!

No, $6-7K is his buy-back of the car (30% of the write-off value)... He still gets $22K from ins...

IMO, I would strip the mods, buy a new 5.5 gen for under $22 (there are many around) and mod it up again... You get to mod your new car for free and keep the change $$, and have fun doing it again = priceless

He'd probably have to buy the car from the insurance company to get all his mods off the car, so he wouldn't technically get to mod his new Max for free. But I'm gonna agree with this concept. Take the car and $16K from the insurance company.

I don't know what 03 Max's are going for in Canadian dollars, but I would think you could walk away with a loan of less than a couple thousand dollars on a decent mileage SE or GLE.

As banged up as your Max got, I'd be very hesitant about getting it back on the road. Flood damage is one thing, but if the impact was as bad as it looks, who knows how many gremlins just moved in waiting to make you hate your car. "Sometimes dead is better"

Good luck, and glad you're OK.

you are allowed to take your mods back at the junk yard, and keep them. since most insurance companies don't pay for aftermaket upgrades, you can take them off to reture the car to stock condition before they claim it completely. i had this happen to one of my previos cars, and i kept the rims, stereo, etc. i just had to get it back to oem conditons.

Guys,

I have owned two 6 speed 5.5gens. I crashed my 2k2 6speed 7 months after purchase.. but it was pretty stock.. This 2k3 is also a 6 speed but its 3 years old.

I have disclosed all mods to my insurance and they told me I can take them off.. I am still debating whether i should just fix it up.

I just found a 2k3 GLE body for sale at a wrecker (GUTTED) but has the headlights.. I might buy that too.. LOL. It was a theft
