How will a G35 muffler sound on a 4th Gen?

alright fellas heres the deal I'm getting a G35 muffler cause my friend upgraded to the stillen full exhaust. Now I know obviously 4th Gen+ G35= not compatible... well I know a body guy that may be able to use fiberglass to make it work that or have an exhaust shop put the biggest tip without duals.

but the thing im getting at is how many decibels louder are we talking here, anyone know? If not than how about the tone?..

Wouldn't it look funny if you had a G35 muffler on a Max?

I don't think it'd look funny. You couldn't reallly tell unless you looked beneath the car and saw the muffler itself. Its a stock muffler so it shouldn't attract that much attention.

just put something that fits, like a cattman or greddy...they sound really nice, just choose one u like. there is a sticky at the top of the 4th gen page with all the sounds. Not worth all that work not to have the g35 sound. I like the sound of the cattman a lot, listen to Ceasers car in the clips, it sounds real nice all the way through the rpm band

If you are talking about a G35 sedan muffler, then I can tell you they sound pretty nice. I have one on my 95. Its louder than stock but not by much. It does not sound just like a G35, but it does sound similar. It has kinda that hollow buzzing tone (don't know how to describe it). I should be cleaning my car up and taking a few pics of it this weekend, I'll try to remember to post a few here.

Oh yeah. My exhaust set up is budget Y, catco cat, custom cat back, magna flow resinator, G35C muffler.

G35 muffler are ugly, why waste time and money when you could get an nice stainless one that actually fits right.

That's a personal preference. I don't find them ugly.

Been there, done that. Next......

It does sound similar to a 350z under acceloration from the outside. It was too loud for my tastes so I took it out. It IS for sale. It should bolt on to anyones bpipe. If I had the stock ypipe or bpipe, this would be the perfect muffler. But it is too loud with the Budget Bpipe and ypipe(yes I have a resonator)

okay you have the credit, so there...

But guys as you can see by Kevlo's pics it does pose a problem though not a big one I've actually been quite handy with fiberglass in the past and I am going to do this... Now that statement about it being ugly this is for youbut I didnt ask your opinion did I... nope. Anyways Im looking for a nice sound thats not much louder than stock, I'm making a sleeper fellas not a show car. I've heard the G35 muffler on a G35 and its sounds great and cant be too bad on a max though obviously not the same sound. I am going with it cause once again its free and its decent, I'm not made of money so thank you for your posts and keep any info coming...

They do look nice, but you have to cut that cutout to make it fit.

There is a clip of a 5.5 Gen with headers, custom b-pipe, and the G35 sedan muffler in the 5th Gen exhaust sticky. It sounds pretty good, IMO.

Please don't flame at me but i have a 4th gen with budget y-pipe, b-pipe, magnom flow resonator accompanied with 5th gen muffler and it sounds the same as "the kids". Does that mean that 5th gen muffler and G35 muffler have the same internal design then ....

Saying "Please don't flame me" is just asking for trouble...But to answer your question it just means they sound the same.

Actually they are similar. The 2nd exhaust tip opens at about 2000-2500 on the 5th gen and it opens at 3500 on the G35. Plus the G35 has 2.5" inlet opposed to the 2.0" inlet on the 5th gens.

my point was it takes time to make it perfect so why waste the time to do that. But that is jst my opinion and no one will actually care so yeah. Looks nice either way. Like it but too much work for it to fit.
