*KABLAM* bye VE :(

Hm, after all the backfiring my car has been doing and finally getting it down to Nissan.... Turns out this junkyard motor was burning oil like a mad man (and eventually had none left, and i just changed the oil). Which in turn made me a mad man. Nissan Mechanic said my motor is dead, so my dad found me a JDM VE with 30k miles and we'll have it put in monday or tuesday yay!!! Just wondering if anyone has any advice as far as things to save off old motor or to do before new engine is in.

I plan on saving the following

IACV (new)
All Injectors (new)
Coil Packs
Spark Plugs (new)

I bought three New Motor mounts from Internet AutoMart... I think my dad welded my center core support the deal on the bottom, is there anything else that holds the engine in place that may need replacing?

check the VTCs and tranny mounts as well. otherwise, change front and rear engine seals and replace tranny output shaft seals while you've got it all apart. will help keep some of those annoying drips down once you get it running again.

Look in the stickies -- there is a great thread with lots of info by Spipedong and Jeff about what to do for a JDM swap. Jeff did my swap and it has been great so far (knock-on-wood) except I have a slight valve cover gasket leak (no biggie, just got to get another one).

Highly recommended is replacing the manifold studs and water pump while the engine is out of the car.

I don't remember if you have a 5-speed, but if you do, change over the 5-speed intake, so you can retain the VI. Almost all JDM engines are from an AT.

Only the 5-speed cars have it. You never said if your car is a manual or AT.

Is there any major differences when you are swapping a VG instead of a VE?

Hey guys,
I am in the proccess of pulling my VG. Is there any way to quickly disconeect the engine wiring harness? or do do I have to pull all the sensor, injectors etc. I am sure there is an easy way so I thought i would ask. Normally I would just do it the hard way but im learning

thanks
dan

Nope. But it's not that hard. Not a VG but you get the idea: Pic courtesy of mrgone

just re-tape it, or do away with the plug........ on the VG, you should be able to unplug all the sensors and stuff.. you should be able to keep all the sensors attatched to the motor and all the wiring off of it
