is it the windstar or aerostar that has the vq30de motor? and what years were the motor in it? i found some windstar motors and they cost a way lot less than a motor from a maxima. i just need spare if i blow up mine.

The only ties that Ford and Nissan have is that the VG30DE came in the Mercury Villagers.

VILLAGER like the one sitting in my garage next to the Max. (SOHC version, detuned, only 150HP!) Have to drive it next week because the wife complains I only maintain what I happen to be driving!
The Aerostar, sitting next to the Villager as it happens, is a 3.0L V6 but RWD nothing at all like the VQ, and the Windstar has a 3.8L transverse FWD V6, also nothing like the VQ.

It has 160 HP. And it's not that it's detuned. It's just that the heads and intake manifold are junk.

Why would two completely different companies offer the same motor in two different styles of vehicles?

Ford demanded the SOHC motor be non interference....in other words if the timing belt broke it wouldnt be bye bye engine. The result a less reliable , less powerful Fo-nissan junk engine.

yeah, and what about the dedge stealth? Depending on what part you needed, decided what dealership to go with. Something like a ford motor, chevy tranny, dodge exhaust, hurst shifter, mitsu awd and some other stuff.
CRAZY!!!

Well the Villager is kind of amusing, it's very like the Max in many little ways. Like the cornering lights, just the same as on my Gen IV. To me, it's as if Nissan built a minivan version of the Max, and then Mercury decided it wasn't flashy enough and added a lot of typical Mercury luxury items. Secretly I am hoping the SOHC engine will explode so I can drop in a VQ35 with harness, ECU and all the gubbins.
