Hey guys..........what's the max wattage the headlights on the 5th gen max can handle. I want to get 80 watt bulbs but I'm afraid my the wires will melt...........any advice?

Stay with stock wattage (55W).

 

I agree....55/60 W......only go higher if you are willing to upgrade your harness

 

But then you run the risk of melting the housing.

 

hmmm....never thought of the housing. Have there been a lot of complaints about the housing itself melting?

 

I remember seeing a few posts about melted housings.

 

My harness melted, and they don't sell just the socket...Cost to replace - $700. So they wired in a socket from a nissan truck. cost - $80. Stay with the stock wattage...

 

go to www.autobulbdepot.com and put in make, model, and year of car. They will find compatibles and give you a listing and price. Badda Bing Badda Boom......there at your door in two days. No guess work, other than brand and color.

 

DO NOT USE A HIGHER WATTAGE.
It will burnout. Unlessy ou get the cats bulb saver kit. Its a kit that looks like an hid kit where you can safely use higher wattage bulbs. The reason for this is because it still take the same amount of power from the source as the stock harness. The regulator does all the work for you.

is it 55/60 or 60/55, PIAA says 60/55 or is it the same?

 

those two are the same.... my raybrigs also say 60/55.
