Removal of rear bumper

Maxes,

I have a fist sized dent on my corner left side rear bumper. I can get to it from underneath the car, but there's not enough room to push the dent back out. I am thinking if I remove the bumper then I should be able to knock out the dent. Does anyone here know how to remove the rear bumper on a 5.5? (Or any suggetions on how to fix the dent w/o removing the bumper)? I see this exact dent on other Maxes, and guess it happens at parking lots etc. I'll try knocking it out from its outer side as 2 local members suggested, but I fear removal of bumper is necessary. Thanks for any help!

I had a simular problem on my old car. Try taking a hair dryer and heat up the dent for a while then it should pop out on its own. Worked for me.

Yes I'm sorry, but I cannot attach pics. Its a circular slightly-larger-than-a fist size. I've seen this exact dent on a number of Maxes, and considering where I was parked, it did'nt take much power to dent it. Thanks for any help!

Thanks will try that. Another member from nycmaxes suggested knocking it from the side, so I'll try that this weekend. If it doens't work, then I know removing the bumper would get the dent out. I can see and feel and touch it from underneath, but there's no leverage to take a whack at it from inside.

Go down to your local auto parts store and get yourself that ding king kit. It is $20.00 and should work to get the dent out for you. Something in my garage fell on the roof of my car and put a grapefruit sized dent in it. The Ding King Kit completely removed it.

How about removing the trunk room liner? You should be able to see the dent from the inside then.

I sure wasn't. My bad.

I don't see how he can get a dent out of a plastic bumper cover though.

Why did you have to replace yours? I did mine by myself.
