i bought that turbo about a year ago and i didn't get to put it on the car till about 2 months ago ,,it's t3 t04 super H ballbearing however i didn't connect the turbo to the intake side due to lack of intercooler ,boost controller and deployment so everything was installed except for the piping to the tb and yesterday i heard wierd noise comin' from the turbo today i took it out and found out that the compressor wheel is not moving with turbine wheel due to the broken shaft what the hell what caused that i have no idea!!!! IS THERE ANYWAY TO SAVE THAT TURBO WELD IT OR SOMETHNIG i'm not willin' to pay another grand for a turbo i'm selling the car soon so i need a cheap fix if anybody has any suggestions please posttt thnx

That is crappy to hear. Yet another instance of Turbonetics sucking ****... I doubt that there is any way to fix it. Welding the shaft would almost certainly not work, that turbo spins about 85,000 rpm at like 10psi on a 3.0 like ours, so it would have to be absolutely perfectly balanced. Is the center section destroyed or what. Maybe you can just get a new shaft and wheels or something (I've never poked around inside a turbo myself, only seen a few pictures and diagrams of how they go together).

the center section doesn't look like it's screwed up because i stoped driving like a couple of miles after which i hope was soon enough but the shaft comes with turbine wheel for 200 bucks from turbonetics is there any other place that's cheaper????? i don't know if i should try to rebuild it or just buy one on ebay!!!!

Silly question, but did you have oil lines connected?

could it be possible that you overspun the turbo? without seeing boost the wastegate would never open so your turbo would spin real real fast at higher rpms as exhaust gas pressure increases.

I don't think you could repair it yourself cause the shaft has to be perfectly balanced and I believe they use a machine for that, may have to send it in to them and just eat it..sorry to hear

the oil lines were connected and the flapper was tied open all the time so the turbo was barely spinning

Supposedly, Turbonetics guarantees their turbos even if it is your fault or not.

Good luck....

No idea, you should contact the place you bought it from first and then Turbonetics.

I'm sure there is some "fine print" they will use to get out of it, but maybe not. Worth a try.
