anyone know? right now, i have a dynomax superturbo muffler with custom 2.5' piping and its just not as loud as i want it to be. i will also be getting a y-pipe within a few short weeks. do you think the y-pipe will make it a whole lot louder or should i look into a different muffler too? o yeah, im thinkin about a universal Apex'i N1 muffler. think that will louden things up, i heard it will from other N1 owners(non-maxima though). thanks

Punch your cat out, that will make your car louder.

im 99% sure that i will get a racing straight pipe after the y-pipe, but for now, can i just take my stock y-pipe out? or since the exhaust maniflod is facing straight down, the exhaust gas will come straight back into the car at stoplights... naw, just playing, but how bout just any plain old universal that is straight through, that would be like no muffler right?

I have the Apexi N1 muffler. When I first put it on, it was that loud. Then I got the Y-pipe, and it got a little louder. When I add the Stillen B-pipe, that thing got hella loud.

hey, is hella loud all the way up to redline or just up to like 3k rpms? and is your intake still louder then the exhaust after 3k rpms? ok, last question, is your peak resonance like around 2700 rpms or is it higher now? thanks

Inside, when I redline, I really can't hear it. I let someone drive my car one day, and they where shifting at the redline and it was pretty loud. After 3k, I can hear the intake more than the exhaust. As for the resonance, it all depends. If I'm going up a hill, the resonance is loud. But cruising at highway speeds, I can't hear it at all. I can sometimes hear the resonance when I am first getting up to speed, when I first get on the highway.

im really excited about getting my y-pipe so please bare witht me questions. just as for comparison. have you heard a V6 accord with a full exhaust system, like tanabe, is it louder than that, or can it be heard from a few blocks down, and is the loudness comparable to a truck with flowmasters, or domestic V8s with flowmasters, or not really? just trying to get a sense of the loudness, thanks

i just like it louder, when its louder, you can feel the vibrations of the resonance and it turns heads a lot. its just something i like about cars.

Sx7R has the perfect setup, straight pipes to Z28 tips, no mufflers, try that, it's cheaper too, just need the piping and the tips, no muffler to buy.

ok, no mufflers...

i can work with that, but what about when time comes for inspection..emmissions.. i would like to go with no muffler but i dont think i wanna hassle with the emmissions. i think i will be going with flowmaster 40 series. any comments on this one?

Trust me...Maximas DO NOT sound nice w/ straight thru muff.
Actually they sound HORRIBLE!
If you don't run a cat...or punch it out...
YOUR CAR WILL SOUND LIKE DOG SHIET!
ESPECIALLY if you run no resonator + a straight thru muff.

I know from experience.
Didn't run that setup very long.....a week.
Threw a cat + resonator back on & its still loud...
So now i'm redoing it all...prolly w/ a stock muff + 2.5".

you have a totally different car then i do though, mine is still pretty stock while urs is probably a 300hp beast. the 3inch piping is going to be quite louder, from what i have heard. i think i will be going with the flowmaster 40 series and y-pipe before i try anything else.

i thought the loudest was the y-pipe, stillen b-pipe, and the stillen exhaust...so far i have the y-pipe and the stillen exhaust...it sounds aight but not that loud...like on the freeway...i hear more of the intake but i drive like 80-90mph...but like when ur accelerating you'll hear the muffler and then u hear the intake...i'm thinking about the getting the b-pipe to finish it off or waiting to buy a greddy cat-back instead...the greddy sounds deep but not loud

actually, mine sounds like an LT1 with borla exhuast, a little bit higher in pitch though. get an N1 and you'll have the sound of farts.
